4runner missing rear bumper
« on: Nov 07, 2013, 05:29:53 AM »
Dont really need one, but I have a old 2 inch frame mount receiver I want to mount up high so I can use my universal winch mount. I built one for the front, but now want one for the rear.
Any one done this, if so can you post a pic of it.  I was looking to do something like the pic below, but I dont want to permanently mount the winch there.

I am planning on putting an old bolt on 2 inch receiver on the front of my truck, I already have a rear. What I am thinking is to cut off my front spring perches and weld the receiver under the cross member then weld some new perches to that. Not only would that be a very strong mount for a removable winch but it will give me a little more of a lift on the front but will also move my axle back into the proper position in relation to the tcase Since I put a 1 1/2 inch shackle on it. As to a power source I am going to use a jumper hot box front and rear like a tow truck uses to jump start vehicles. On the rear you basically do the same thing making it a very strong solid point for the winch. Cool thing about the receiver in the front is that you can also use it to launch that boat in the backround. Oh and you have a very nice looking 4Runner.
