What sets our new base apart from other kits?
  • Leak-free One-piece Design
  • Serviceable 10.9 Grade Pivots
  • Includes Pre-modified Toyota Shift Handle
  • Includes the World's BEST Heavy Duty Seat and Socket
  • Low Profile Design for floorboard clearance
  • Made in USA from USA Billet Aluminum
  • Integrated Factory Toyota Breather

We know that used bases with good pivots are becoming harder and harder to find. This solution has all new parts and the pivots are 1) stronger than stock, and 2) rebuildable.

Thanks for the replies guys! :turtlehead:

Interesting!   Price estimate?
Price is $179 which includes the following:
  • USA made short throw base from USA billet aluminum
  • New 10.9-grade Pivots and a Toyota breather pre-installed
  • Modified and reconditioned Toyota shift handle
  • New Toyota shift handle boot
  • Our Heavy Duty USA-made Shift Seat
  • Our Heavy Duty USA-made Shift Socket
  • Four 8.8-grade 8x1.25mm base bolts
  • Four 8mm lock washers
It's everything you need minus silicone. We are charging a refundable core charge on the shift handle, otherwise we'd run out of handles after a few months. We have handles organized here by application to match each order.

very nice...  is the premodified toyota shift handle the same as what you guys have been doing and just lengthening the stub part that goes into the tranny or is this a new piece entirely??
Yes Sirree, same as before with a lengthened section beneath the pivot

What are the specs on the shift handle, photo?
What about the throw, video maybe?
I am working on the specs, a kit photo, and will make an animated image showing the before and after difference. I believe the reduction in throw is around 60% :best:

Looks great! When will they be available for a w56?
At this time I am not sure. They are next on our list and I'll reply back with info as soon as possible

Will the r151 model fit an AX-15?
The answer is yes, the bolt patter of the shifter bases are interchangeable between a R151F and an AX-15, however the shift handles are not. The AX-15 uses a larger diameter shift handle pivot ball which won't fit in our shift base. The option would be to use our short throw base along with a Toyota shift handle (from any V6 5-speed Toyota truck), but the Toyota handle uses a metric shift knob thread and won't match the height nor bend of your original shifter. If you can live with these points, then yes, you can convert over to the Toyota base and handle setup and be rocking an awesome short throw kit on your AX-15 today! :beerchug:

Some people have asked why we didn't start with the W-series transmission. Rest assured it is the next transmission on our list to develop one-piece bases for.

The reason why we went with the base we designed is twofold:
#1) It reaches a majority of our customers, as the single kit fits the following 8 applications:
G52, G54, G58, 3.0-liter R150F, 3.4-liter R150F, Turbo R151F, and Jeep/Dodge AX-5 & AX-15 (these Chrysler applications coming soon).
The date range of this one kit fits a 20-year application spread from 1984-2004, and fits Hilux Pickups, Hilux 4Runners, T100s, Tacomas, 3rd gen 4Runners, and Tundras -- all from this single kit. It's also possible our new kit fits the MA5, AN5, and AR5, which are used in GM and Isuzu applications, however we don't know this to be true outside of their internal compatibilities (send me a PM with shifter base pictures if you have one of these!).

#2) The W-series is popular, it's what I have in my personal rig, but the bases are broken up into four different styles, the A/B, C, D/E, and the W59. The bolt patterns of the C and D/E bases are the same, so only three different bases will be needed, but the application spread here is far smaller:
W56A/B or W56C/D/E or W59
So we'd need to either choose to release the kit for the A/B or the C/D/E or the W59, which means we'd only be capturing a smaller percentage of users with the introduction product.

So as you can see the kit we designed is the clear winner in terms of compatibility. This doesn't mean we aren't going to be releasing them, or already developing W-series kits

How much differance does it make (how much shorter)?
Sorry I was reading it quick, noticed the "I believe the reduction in throw is around 60%".
Is that 30% off both front and back throw?
The reason I ask is my tripple sticks forced me to turn my shifter around and pull the top towards the back.
The handle still hits the dash  :tantrum: but it works and my console is one piece....
Thanks

Yes Sir, the 60% number is total throw from front to back as well as side to side. So 30% forward and 30% rearward from a center position.

I'm out of town (in San Jose) until Monday, then we'll be posting some more info on this

Also, because we are lifting the pivot point up 1 inch above its stock location, the shift handle will also be inch taller than stock.

Trying to get one ordered........no luck getting through on the phone........
Have a couple questions that need answered, main one is on my shifter.
It has been bent at the top to keep it out of the dash and the triple sticks.
If it's not going to be core able than I will keep it.....?

Sort of....... I asked if Marlin wanted my shifter (been slightly modified). I told the guy on the other end if not, no sense shipping it. Did not sound like he wanted to guess. I had to turn my shifter around and heat the tip up and bed it back a little to clear the dash. I am fairly sure it could be straightened if a person wanted to. If you think you may still want it (or would like to see a picture) let me know. If not I will straighten it and through it in the parts for sale pile. I had to modify it to miss the triple sticks. When I shifted into 2nd & 4th it hit the t-case shifters. Once the new parts come in I will take some pictures while installing. I also had to recess my radio to miss the shifter. It will be nice to have a little space in front of the shifter.  :driving:

I don't think you'll have any more issues with the dash interference!

Also, there is the core to be refunded, if you can't sell it otherwise, which would be worthwhile to return it :turtlehead:

Update: I forgot to think that since your shift handle is modified, I'm not sure if we'd accept it as a core, since we need good, stock replacement cores. So please keep this in mind! :twocents:

Installed mine last night, was trying to upload some pictures but I got tired of trying to resize them.....
See if this works instead:

http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/950704/fullsize/new-shifter-base.jpg
http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/950699/fullsize/close-but-cleares.jpg

find out soon...... seems to work fine.
Not sure how long it took as I was helping my son break down an old wood project and pull the nails.
But it didn't take very long, shifter is crisp and alot less movement, what I needed due to the triple sticks.
My old shifter was in good shape and had new guts so it worked fine except hitting the t-case shifters.
In normal possition it would knock the t-case shift hard enough to possibly knock it out of gear.
So I reversed the shifter and brought the tip back to miss the dash.
I also had to sink the radio in the dash (about +/- 1/4") so the shifter did not change the stations or turn the volume up and down. It still tapped the edge of the dash and the t-case shifter, but it worked.
Now I have alot of room between the shifter and the dash and it misses the t-case shifters (not by much, but it does).

I am going to jump in here, the kit looks GREAT!! I know the quality of parts as I used MC heavy duty parts to rebuild a W56.

I know your in R&D mode for the W transmissions. I am currently in NEED of a new shifter seat and socket for my W55 trans 93 2wd, as I am having to lift the shifter up to find gears but, I would prefer to grab the short shifter kit any idea on a time line for my trans?
Thanks

Okay guys,

I am busy working on the installation guide, which isn't done yet, but I do have these excellent comparison photos prepared. Also I won't be making any videos, rather I'll put together a few animated GIF images.

I also officially measured the difference in throw reduction and it is 40% which for a standard height 6cyl handle (shown below) its 1-inch reduction per throw (2-inches reduction total)!

Comparison, Stock on left, MCI on right:

I should have the installer done next week. More to come soon!

Regards,
BigMike
