22R Swap into a 86 4runner. (came factory w/ 22RE)
« on: Jun 26, 2012, 08:16:01 PM »
Hey guys, I have a 1986 4Runner I am building, as most of you know. I bought it without a Powertrain at all. I recently picked up a 1983 22R in great condition with a Chevy Alt Bracket, PS'ing Pump and the factory Carb manifold with EGR block off plates already installed. I have decided that I want to keep it Carbureted and run it as Bare BONES as possible. Run it on like 5 wires. (ignition, alt, main power, temp sensor, oil sensor and maybe an aftermarket elec fuel pump). I need some pictures, writeups, diagrams, etc on how to do this. I am searching the forums and coming up short. If i can get some good quality large photos of some 22R equipped 84-87 4Runner/Truck engine bays, post them up please. any info will be appreciated.

Also, I do not want Propane or to convert to EFI. Or any Engine swap suggested. I have that for phase 2 while I get this driving.
So unless your post has to do with the subject at hand, it will be removed.

Should be just a slimmed down version of the RE harness.  All I had on my carb'd truck was keyed power to the fuel lockoff, electric choke, and the standard alternator, starter, etc.  Nothing else should matter, these are really basic trucks.  Oh, I had a Weber, but the same should apply to the stock carb.
