That doesn't seem to tall. My 3rd gen Sased with 35s is 26-27 to the bottom of the front crossmember with 6" up travel, I had it at 24 but I like up travel. The only reason I have that much up travel is because I notches a bunch out of my frame for tie rod and drag link clearance.

Maybe to under the cab. No way it's 26 to front spring hanger.

Measured from the ground to the bottom of the frame right at the t-case crossmember.  I don't know of anybody that measured the front crossmember height.  Ground to frame is an equal way to measure.

Hmmm, always had people measure to the front crossmember. Mine must be like 22-23 with that way of measuring.

I could french my front spring hanger up a couple inches and it would throw that measurement out the window. Or different models of Toyota's (1st gen 4Runner vs 3rd gen 4Runner) have completely different frame builds.

Ground to frame at the crossmember is a true measurement of height.

You have the IFS frame so you'll be fighting more than the SA and 2WD model owners to lower your ride height and keep your up travel.  Most of the online measurements of ride height seem suspect, and ultimately who cares how it looks as long as your suspension works.

Here's mine.

37s with Marlin 4" springs with lower most leaf removed and deep frenching into an 80 series front axle so that the springs fit inside the top of the axle housing rather than way high above on overly tall spring perches.

No measurements to share right now since the truck's still in progress.

Here's some more in progress shots of how my truck lost a bit of height.

When my Marlin Crawler 4"ers wear out, I might be thinking of some custom reverse eye leaves to drop down a bit more but keep the up travel with same arch.  For better or worse, I am keeping the stock tie rod position of the 80 series steering set up, but the passenger side frame may still need to be notched for drag link clearance with my double sheered passenger side only Slee Hi-steer arm.  (BillyBob13's arms look badass, and maybe something for the future.)

Here's a pic from the back.  Let some more trimming begin.

Thanks, Pumpkin Toy!  I like it a lot, too, but before anyone makes any erroneous assumptions about whose handiwork this is, the following "before" axle housing picture is all I could accomplish with my angle grinder:

Whoopdeedoo, right?  Then I handed it off to Daryl Dickerson and Bink Hurrey at Bink's Fabrication in Salida, California, who took my request for the fabrication of as low as possible spring perches to a whole new level, which is what you see in the "after" pics in my original post above.

100% it could be done.  One thing about the 55" mini truck housings is the super high stock perch location next to the diff on the passenger side.  It may have been designed in such away for a very good reason, especially for a mass produced stamped housing.  I don't know.  They are cheap and common enough to take a swing at it.

On my 80 housing in the original post above, some machined reinforcement pieces were made to strengthen the frenched perch.  We will see how it goes.

Advantages include less axle wrap and a more tucked up underneath, FROMBE tierod that comes with stock 80s.

Badass. I've tossed around the idea of doing this to my tg front housing but I'd probably trash it.

I think this type of mod would be easier with a Ruff Stuff, Diamond, or a TG housing as long as your diff webbing was centered enough so that only cutting into the tubing, not the webbing, would be necessary.  My rear axle housing is a Ruff Stuff centered 9.5" Toyota full float LC housing, and the rear perches aren't frenched, but they are low-profile enough to put the springs only a .25" above the axle tubing.  In the front, frenching a custom housing might help for leaf spring guys.  Mind you, I am rolling a trail rig here, no racer, so full gussetting and total housing strength is not so much of an issue for me.  I want balance and reliability.  Still skeptical of my ability to run/tune COs and optimizing link geometry on a trail rig that will see highly variable load weights and on and Offroad conditions.  BUT I admire the guys who can and do run rigs that work well with COs.

No build thread, but I may post up some before and afters while consolidating some of the pics, and past posts, and stuff I really like about my Runner in a new thread in the rig gallery soon once I get her back and have shaken her newest form down this season on the trails:

Here is a link to some earlier fab and cage work done by Dan Trout of Fishmouth Fabworks on his FB page:
https://m.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.157589460951952.30438.145336198843945&type=1&v&refid=9

Here is a link to some of the latest from Binksfab's FB page:
http://m.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.396433137048552.97739.152674484757753&type=1&v

And last but not least, I'm super proud to be running a bunch of Marlin Crawler parts on this truck so I got get some pics of that gear to post up, too.

The truck is pretty basic (and gutless with her 22RE), but I am hoping with the added beef in the axle department, the added width, and the lower ride height, she'll be much more stable and continue to be just as reliable as she's been for me on the trails.
