Thanks.

I added a center support to the basket. I am looking at some different material for the bottom of the basket now.

It will more than likely be on the red truck most of the time since I picked up a soft topper for my Tacoma.

I need to go pick up my third member from my mechanic buddy so I can get the rear end back together so I can work on the front end and replace the frame shackle bushings.

your build looks awesome!! Lots of time in that rig. If you look at the check in page I just bought an 85 runner I'm getting started on and had some questions about your build early on. Front axle truss and fab work looks solid. But why did you weld the plate ontop of the spring perch on 1 side only? Also it looks like your springs on the front hanger ride about 3/4" wider than stock? optical illusion or are they wider? Anyhow, I'm about to build a new hanger and get my front end all beefed up and ready. Tips?

Thanks..
It is an optical illusion. The springs and hanger are at the 29 inch toy spacing. I used a marlin front hanger when we rebuilt the front end. The 3/8 spacer is welded to the spring perch to level the perches from side to side since one is lower than the other.

I extended the exhaust outlet further towards the rear to help eliminate some in cab drone. Surprisingly the truck sounds better at idle.

Maybe a little back pressure is a good thing. The exhaust is temporary until I find a quieter option.

Finally got this 99% done. Just need to seal it up a little better by the twin sticks.

List of stuff to do for the next couple of weeks:

move steering cooler closer to radiator Done
install new grill
trim whats left of my rear bump stop mounts with the plasma (while I still have it) Done
remove seats Done
enlarge crawl box shifter opening Done
install nut zerts Done
finish transmission tunnel cover Done
add some sheet metal to make it somewhat water tight and seal it up and paint Done
take some measurements for my new seat mounts Done
find some 1.75 tube for the seat mount bases and A to B pillar tie-ins
Pick up 3rd member Done
re-assemble rear axle Done
fill rear differential Done
paint rear brake calipers Done
replace missing grease zerks on rear DS Done
install rear driveshaftDone
install delrin front frame bushings

clean up garage (in Progress)

Picked up my 3rd from Joe earlier this week after he had a look over it..

I had him check it out due to the fact I let a friend have my TC flange after he destroyed his rear end and after I put the new flange on It didn't feel right to me. So I sent it to the expert. He also threw in a tube of Toyota FIPG for the install.

I got the fresh 3rd member with the G2 5.29's and Detroit in and sealed up.

I painted both the rear calipers since I overlooked that when I did the rear disc brakes. Its not the best but it is better than rust.

I have a drivable truck now. Just need to add oil to the rear diff. I wanted to let the FIPG set over night.

I wanted to post this pic. I installed my rear driveshaft while the rear tires were still ever so slightly off the ground. This made the install a 1000 times easier due to the fact that you could rotate the DS (w/ the TC in Neutral) to get all the DS bolts tightened in an easy to reach position. I dont know why I never did that in the first place

I like those little tips(DS rotated to bolt up).  Overlooked things like that make wrenching a lot harder.

I need all those tips I can get.  Thanks.

Yep don't know why I never did that before.

I started driving the red truck this week to begin breaking in the gears gently in order to be prepared for some cool weather, late season wheeling. Everything seems to be working properly as of right now.

I still have an annoying little oil dribble coming from the duals. Its not enough to be worried about just annoying. I will address that when I pull the cases for a new clutch and rear main seal (which is I suspect needs to be addressed). I may do an Engine Builder H2o pump, Timing Chain, oil pump, front main and Timing cover replacement when I do that too (just to have both ends covered).

Installed my ARP hub studs today. Fairly easy thing to do. Added 2 new outer c-clips on the Birfs while I was at it. I finally replaced a twisted off bolt on the drivers side lockout. Its been bugging me for a while now. I also cleaned up my front shock with a buffing wheel and cleaned/degreased  my front brakes.

completed

shiny shocks, turned out better than I originally intended.

The kind I'm thinking about...a bicycle thumb shifter that is the old school friction type.  Push it and set the desired RPM.  It stays where set.

I think it let's you set a crawl speed.  It could be nice for idle up jobs like winching or if you use any type of PTO.

On a manual it may let you use your feet on the clutch and brake instead of the gas peddle.

It helps immensely when you have a manual like I do. It lets you set the engine RPMs where you want them and free up a foot for the clutch and brake.

Thanks. It has been a fun project to work on.

Next items of business:

modify and install new grille
add some sheet metal to the Trans tunnel cover to make it water tight and seal it up
take some measurements for my new seat mounts
find some 1.75 .120 WT tube for the seat mount bases and A to B pillar tie-ins on the cage
begin new seat substructure and install
burn off old sliders
pick up some 2" .120 WT tube for my slider legs
finish up new sliders
finish bed rack and paint

I have been working on a set of sliders and my bed rack. Once I finish those up, I will try to get this thing bobbed before Jambo hopefully. Swamped with work right now which isn't a bad thing. Just sucks for working on the truck.

You can see my new Hobart MIG that I picked up over Thanksgiving under the light in the first pic :)

Here is the progress on the bed rack

I kept it short enough for the bob whenever that comes.

I just need to drill a couple more holes and put the floor in the rack/paint.

Well I officially have a truggy. Swung by Ray's today and dropped off the bed.

Cleaned up the rear of the cab with some rustoleum bed liner.

Also pulled the fuel sender to see if anything was prohibiting its proper function. Nothing. Probably need a new sender.

Pulled the fuel pump assembly and replaced the fuel pump with my spare since the original pump didn't sound healthy. Seems to run better with the new pump.

Just waiting on the bed to show up so I can get it installed this week.

Got started on the rear crossmember. Chopped off 2.5 inches of the frame that won't be needed. Added a piece of 3x3 .25wt square tube and burned it in. Had to add a piece of 1x1 angle to the top to use all 4 holes to mount the lights. Stabbed the lights in to see how well my hole marking and tape skills were. Just need to figure out the wiring now.

Wiring will be the final step. I am pretty sure I got it figured out.

Picked up the bed this afternoon. Did a little fitting and trimming and got it welded on. I have to say my little Hobart machine is a workhorse.

Everything went on easily since we cut the mounts off flush with the frame.

Now that the hard part is done, the little tedious chores begin.
