Attention Tacoma and 4Runner owners! We recently came across a small quantity of brand-new Alloy USA 4340 Chromoly Rear Axle shafts, the very same shafts we used to carry a few years ago before Alloy USA stopped producing them. We had great success with these shafts, so much so that both Marlin and BigMike run them in their personal rigs. If you missed the opportunity to grab these in the past, now is your last chance -- once they are gone, they're gone!

Priced to move at just $175/pair. These may very well be the only remaining brand new Alloy USA Tacoma/4Runner shafts on the planet!

These axles may be used in a ABS housing so long as the following two conditions are met:

1) You have disabled your ABS system (these axles are not machined/compatible with the ABS reluctor ring).

2) You have made a sleeve/adapter to run non-ABS rear axle seals, which have a different outer & inner diameter.

Here is an adapter I machined for use in my rear ABS Tacoma axle housing that I am running on my 1981 Hilux:

Now I am able to use our Heavy Duty rear axle EcoSeals with these Tacoma Chromoly axle shafts in my ABS Tacoma rear axle housing :D

BigMike

What would the cost be for a set of those seal adapters to make these shafts work in an ABS housing?

Hello JT,

Those spacers shown in the above photos are some that I personally whipped up in our lathe on the weekend. Sorry but we do not offer these. We have sold a few over the years, but its not cost effective to make these in house and the low demand doesn't make it worth while to keep them in stock.

Just measure the outer diameter of a rear axle seal, and have a machine shop make you a pair of adapters that have an OD 1.5 thousands of an inch larger than the ID of the rear axle housing for a nice tap-in fit.

Regards,
BigMike

Thanks Mike, I remember you guys had offered some in the past :)

I will see what my machinist could come up with since that would be my only issue with getting these shafts, which may be required if I pick up the 40's I am looking at this weekend :D

Thanks

JT

    • My 4Runner pics
I have a 1990 4Runner with an SAS in the front.  The rear has an axle out of a Tacoma with an e-locker in it.  I bought this truck 2 years ago and after a year I noticed the drivers side rear axle seal was leaking.  I replaced it with a new seal I bought from Toyota.  Here we are a year later and it is leaking again.  I replaced it last week with a Toyota seal.  Once again it is leaking.  I pulled it apart and noticed the seal sits 2" back from the end of the axle housing and the sealing surface on the axle shaft is at the front.  After doing some research I discovered there are two versions of this axle: one with ABS and one without.  It appears my axle housing is ABS and I have non ABS shafts.  Basically the oil seals are not making contact with the axle shafts.

Big Mike.  I noticed you have had spacers made.  By any chance do you have the full dimensions of the spacers you had made?  I will need to find a machine shop that can make these for me.
