CV Wear solution
« on: Apr 06, 2011, 06:52:25 PM »
Problem= when you lift an ifs tacoma chassis truck or 4runner, you experiance more rapid CV wear and boot failure, unless you do the expensive bulky full craddle BS that robs ground clearance

Solution=the front diff can drop as much as 2 inches and still live inside the factory subframe out of harms way, and still retain the same ground clearance at the skid plates

so- i had these spacers machined
they allow you to drop the diff .5 inch,1 inch, or 1.5 total depending on how much lift you have

my 4runner is lifted 4 inches, so i dropped the diff the full 1.5
the kit is doweled so that it cannot wigggle
will work on all ifs yotas

let me know if you want a set, im thinking 50.00 with hardware

i must ask. is the rear of your diff mounted so that it only rotated the front mounts downward? if it has what does your pinion angle look like?

yes it is and i seriously doubt the pinion angle changed significantly

The front u-joint is a double cardan joint, so I doubt changing the pinion angle will do any harm..........

I installed a 1" kit in my 02 Tacoma when I had the FabTech 3.5"
lift kit put in. 150,000 miles later the original CV's are still working.
I did go through 3 sets of boots though, seems they don't like
the extra stretching or the Arizona bushes have sharp teeth.
