OEM Toyota head gasket or engnbldr
« on: Feb 02, 2011, 08:50:49 PM »
Hey guys I'm sure this topic has been discussed a lot, but I want some more opinions. Should I use the engnbldr head gasket in my kit or should I buy a oem Toyota head gasket for my 22re. Thanks

Yes it has, and the same opinions you'll find in all the other threads about it are just as pertinent here:  it's hard to beat the toy gasket

$40 for a OEM headgasket or $68 for a complete engine kit with a fantastic metal clad headgasket from engnbldr.com...  Simple decision for me.  I have never had a single head gasket failure with an engnbldr gasket and I've done a LOT of them.

Give it up glen, lots of people seem happy with his cams.  Just because you have an lc eng cam doesn't mean they're the only thing worth buying.  Sometimes it's ok to let others be happy with what they have

Werd.  There are only 2 things that I'll EVER buy from those overpriced bastids and that is a aluminum flywheel because I haven't found anyone else that makes it.  And the adjustable cam timing gear because it is the only thing they carry that isn't at least double what I think it should cost through anyone else.

I've been very happy with the 261 "crawler cam" that I've used in my own engine and in several others I've built for other people.  No it's not a big cam but it does help the midrange a decent bit.  Certainly enough to tell the difference.
