Topic: Max driveshaft angle?

   I am wondering how many degrees a driveshaft can bend before viberations can be expected. Currently I have 17* at rest.

On that one you might want to look into a Toy CV.

Thats gonna vibrate like a sumbiotch with the angles being so different. If you put the diff flange 2 degrees lower that the t-case output then there is a substantial lesser chance of vibration.

WT, I would like to run the same angles at both ends, but I most likely won't be able to. You had said you think the newer CV's will bend farther than the early ones, if so I could look in to getting one and use half of the CV angle for the pinion. The other CV would bend enough to reach the pinion, but would not allow for any rear extension.

I just moved the engine forward 1/2" and lowered the crossmember 1". That should help a bit I hope.

Yup out of the box 84 and 85 have the most angularity.  BUT you can clearance the 86-95 to have the exact same angularity.  And there is the added bonus that most people dont know about clearancing them so they sell them cheap....

Come on Brainless, I only moved it 1/2" 

I think what will help is when I get my T18A with the 6.32:1 first gear and the toy box. Can you say Crawllllleeeeeerrrrr? 5.29:1 x6.32:1 x 4.70:1 = willy low.  157.13:1 final and the engine idles at 300-500 rpm.  That's only 3.18 times the tire will turn every minute at 500 rpm.     31' a minute and 1860' an hour. That's .35 miles per hour   Hell I can crawl faster than that without the Willy on my hands and knees.

  Well it may be past your bed time, but there is no drums on this project. I never used any rear brakes on the mud truck as they would only cake up with mud and wear out anyway. I will need rear brakes on this so I am going to use front brakes on the back too. That should stop this thing quite well.
