Sorry guys... Really there is no way to handle this and it could happen at any time to any product. Look at the Cyber Monday deal. There are people who placed orders late Sunday night only to find out that had they waited they could have received some free inner axle seals.
It happens to all of us I guess is the only thing to say. I bought my North Face backpack, which wasn't cheap, only to find it on a 50% off discontinued sale the next week.
But on the bright side I've had this backpack for nearly 2 years now and it is the best backpack I've EVER owned and at this rate has many more years of service. The high quality zippers still feel like new (my Eddie Bauer zippers died within a year) and after having it for so long, do I regret that I missed out on saving 50%? Noooo way, I got a super high quality backpack that has served me exceptionally well. I accepted what it was worth when I bought it and it has more than paid for itself.
