Marlin Crawler 5th Annual KOH Thread (Feb 2011)
« on: Nov 10, 2010, 12:49:17 PM »
We are extremely proud to present our King Of The Hammers 2011 Buggy!

We dominated the Formula Toyota series for 3 straight years (3-time National Championships) and finished all FOUR of the previous King Of The Hammers events with our 79-horsepower F-Toy as the the top leaf-sprung finisher. This time we have a new Buggy in the house!

After many months of work, our 2011 KOH rig was unveiled last week at the 2010 S.E.M.A. Show in Las Vegas, Nevada!

Features include:

Hendrix Motorsport's X-Chassis

Driver: Jon James, Co-Pilot: Mike Hendrix

4-link with custom tuned FOA Shocks

3RZ-FE Engine (currently being dyno-tuned by LC Engineering)
Simple Digital Solutions EM-4 Engine Management
LCE Oil Pan and Valve Cover

Marlin Crawler Competition R151F transmission
- MC Chromoly Thrust Washer and Pin
- MC Heavy Duty Bearing Cover Plate
- MC Billet 1st & 2nd Gear Shift Fork
- MC Heavy Duty Shifter Seat and Socket
- MC Billet Short Throw Kit

Marlin Crawler Competition Dual Ultimate Transfer case setup
- MC XtremeDuty Double Roller & Oversized Cage Bearing MC07 Crawler
- MC XtremeDuty 4.70:1 Total-Spline Crawler Gears
- MC Chromoly 30-spline Front Output Shaft
- MC Chromoly 30-spline Rear Output Shaft with Oversized Bearing
- MC Heavy Duty "5-30" Flanges front and rear
- MC Heavy Duty Shift Forks, Rods, and Roll Pins

12-Volt Guy Custom Dash Panel Switches
Diamond Axles Front & Rear
All Pro Off Road Hybrid Toyota/Dana60
Howe Hydro Steering
Hi Desert Heavy Duty Drivelines

Our buggy had a front row display at the Racing & Performance Exhibit at the Central Hall of this years S.E.M.A. Show! It was on display for ANZO USA, makers of High Quality Off Road lighting systems

Here is Marlin with the KOH rig last week at the SEMA show

Attendees checking it out

Some good shots of the interior. Check out the 12-volt guy switch panel! Great work as always Darren!

Here you can see the 2.7-liter 3RZ with the LC Engineering Valve Cover. The engine is being dyno-tuned at LCE. I will post the results soon!

When you've got Marlin Crawler signatures on your drive train components, you can be sure you've got the absolute best parts in the world!

We are all looking forward to an awesome race at the 2011 King Of The Hammers in February!

I just saw the L.C. egineering dyno test on YouTube for it.  Do you have any #'s yet or are they still fine tuning it?

What you are seeing is our old Formula Toyota Competition Buggy, not our new 2011 KOH Buggy. I believe it is scheduled to get dyno tuned in the next 2 weeks. I'll definitely reply back towards the end of the month with the outcome! :yesnod:

This season we are running John's X-Chassis. The plan is to run our new modded X-Chassis for KOH 2012

thanks for all the nice comments guys. I've been working my butt off for the past few months to get the rig ready for SEMA. (with the help of the guys at Marlin Crawler of course)
I still have some small things to take care of. I am hoping to have it up to LC Engineering a week from Friday to tune the motor. Then if everything goes right, we will start shock tuning over thanksgiving with the help from the guys at FOA.

As far as the Decepticon logo goes. My 10 year old son thought it would be cool (and so did I).  :turtle:

I'm really interested to see how John makes out this year. It'll be interesting to see what he can do with a few more ponies and some suspension that's way more geared towards this style of racing.

looks awesome, I might actually have to pay attention to the next KOH... lol
Sand, what fun, drop pressure to 12psi, stock tires are still digging, can't afford to get stuck, 8psi, still not working. Find a place to GET OUT, air up, un-lock hubs,  WAIT whats this, hubs are UN-LOCKED already. 2wd, 8psi, stock tires, Oregon sand dunes.

Glad to see that your number is big enough to read, I'm still embarrassed about having to convince them that you went through checkpoint #1 over the radio 2 years ago. "It was Marlin, it was, it was.

John just posted this up. Looks like this monster is putting about 100 HP to the ground.  :ha_ha: It's only about 20 more HP than the F-Toy but I bet it has way more drive-ability with that 3RZ.
