Re: 87 SAS build up- DONE (for now)
« Reply #240 on: Sep 02, 2011, 11:17:50 AM »
so, got home from school last night, went to drive my truck this morning. no start :maddest: poured some fuel in the carb, sputtered to life, backfired, died. repeated this process quite a few times trying to get fuel to the engine, but no such luck. ok, so its not getting fuel. nothing in the sight glass. i put a new fuel filter on about 2 months ago, so that cant be it. so i went out and bought a fuel pump, got it on. but now the starter is fried :maddest: :maddest: so now im just waiting for it to work again :gap: if anybodys got any ideas, let me know.

check your ignition timing? valve timing? lol weird that it turns so slow? intake leak? egr blocked off? all your vacuum hoses? gotta be getting air from somewhere
Sand, what fun, drop pressure to 12psi, stock tires are still digging, can't afford to get stuck, 8psi, still not working. Find a place to GET OUT, air up, un-lock hubs,  WAIT whats this, hubs are UN-LOCKED already. 2wd, 8psi, stock tires, Oregon sand dunes.

Never mind you got it. On the heater cables I have bent the metal piece back straight on the bottom with pliers so it can pull straight up, although it can jack them up a little bit so not sure if it's the best way to go about it.

In the 3rd to last picture, what is up with your passenger tire? It looks like its leaning out :dunno:

Heater cables easier than you think. The little wire just slips out of it. See way its shaped? I believe one of them you hve to remove from under the hood. But after you get one out, you will understand, and i will be easy.

Progress looks good. Those heater cables suck at removing. I have had to replace two of the switch deals and holy hell was it a pain.
