1985 Toyota 4x4 Stolen from San Jose/Campbell
« on: May 09, 2010, 08:53:01 AM »
My 85' Toyota Pickup was stolen from in front of my condo Thursday night (5/6/2010 -5/7).  It was taken between the hours of 11pm and 10am. Here's a detailed description of the truck:

CA LIC#: 2N26564 (Blue background with yellow letters)
Last 4 of VIN: ...3142

The truck is a white 1985 Toyota 4x4 pickup.  It's a standard cab and a long bed with a bedliner.  It had aftermarket alloy rims with BF Goodwich AT tires.  Grey interior with red bucket seats.  The paint was faded and peeling which was more noticeable on the bed of the truck.  The grill and bumps are black.  The tailgate had two gouges in the paint, one of which had the shape of an upside down 'V'.  It was not lifted.

Update:  It has been 10 months and nothing. Here's a list of some things on the truck.
- 5 American racing wheels (Baja style)
- 5 BF Goodwich 31x10.50x15 A/T tires.  The spare was unused.
- Pendaliner bed liner
- FJ60 front brake rotors
- Toyota V6 brake calipers
- The orignal 85 solid front axle
- 22R carb engine w/ 247k on it.
- G52 5speed transmission RF1A gear transfer, forward shift setup
- 640watt Power Cruiser amp w/ 6" bazooka tube and avalanch electronic crossover

If it is sited, please call the Police or CHP

Thanks Kevin.
I'm hoping the eyes of the community will help me to find my truck.  :crossed:

Anyone got suggestions on how to get the word out?  I'm thinking someone has probably seen it but doesn't know its stolen.  The police probably won't be specifically looking for my truck given all the other reported stolen vehicles in my area.  Something will have to occur to make it stand out.  I'm going to visit all the dismantlers in the area.  Posting flyers in supermarkets are the only other thing I can think of.

I had so many plans for this truck.  I had completed the landcruiser rotor and V6 caliper upgrade.  In the future. 1UZ swap, Hi-steer, new paint, lift....  My wife named my truck Darren.  It had been in the family since it was bought off the Toyota lot in 1985 and I planned to keep it that way until it died or I did.

I'm sorry 'bout your truck :(

I'd say post it all over CL and put fliers up - if you can, laminate them.

Good luck - I hope you get it back!

If taking my truck wasn't enough, I received a text today stating, "We found your truck, call +2340857778243 for details."  In a fit of exictement and stupidity.  I call the number.  No body answers and I hang up.  20 seconds later I come to my senses and recognize its an international number.  Sure enough its origin is Nigeria (+234 prefix).  I'm feeling stupid now.  I'm sure this was a scam.   I hope this doesn't come back to bite me.

Its  been 7 months now and not a word.  It still bothers me.  I check Craig's list and Jaxed several times a week.  So are no certain leads on this one.  There is a guy in Scotts Valley CA selling an "85 regular cab(White)" for $50.  That kinda raises an eyebrow.  The BS with Nigeria ended up only $2 international charge and some embarrassment for being so stupid.  If anyone sees my truck, could be a different color by now, please let me know.
