Trac Switch help (Picture added)
« on: Apr 18, 2010, 05:31:36 AM »
A friend of mine has a 04' Runner.  I'm not sure of the years and models but in 04 the 2wd was the only one that came with a factory Trac on + off switch.  We did the "Andymod" with a aftermarket switch and it works fine.  He wanted it to look factory and bought the $60 switch but we can not figure out how the switch works.  I'm afraid it will only work off of a relay.  Has anybody done this or something similar that would be any help? Thanks.

From what I can see, the Trac off switch supplies ground to pin 26 connector B of the scid control ECU.  The is no relay in the cuircuit.  Your switch should have 4 pins.  2 for the switched cuirtcuit, and 2 for the illumination.  Pins 3 and 4 on the switch should be your switched cuircuit.

Ok, thanks guys for the help.  I've used a ohm tester on 3 and 4 trying to get a open circuit when pushing the switch on/off. It did not work.  Am i missing some varable?  Again, I'm just trying to create a break in 1 wire. shouldn't this be possible?

yes you are correct that should be possible...im jus as confused as you are at this point as to why it will not work if 3 and 4 have and open circut then breaking one wire should close that circut and cause trac to be off idk ??? :headscratch:
