A Delco Alternator has a 2inch lower dogleg, so if you have the later model (85+IIRC) alternator, it bolts up with relatively few mods. Only the early models with the split lower mounting need a new bracket.

Why go 1 wire ?  I understand the power, but they are self sensing, so kinda a joke.  Why not just a GM CS and wire it right, and get the most from an alternator. If you look at the guts a 1 wire isn't really a 1 wire except, ease of hookup for the user.   :twocents:

I agree, I run a second alternator from a 81 Celica and wired it so that it only comes on when I flip the switch I hooked up do do just that.

Nice !

I would go CS, and bother to hook it up right, than go 1 wire.  Off the shelf 100 + amps depending on model.  Cheap and every auto parts store in the country has one on the shelf.

I've got the ToolBox guy GM bracket.  How do I wire a GM CS alt for a 22RE?  What's the best GM alt to buy?  I'd like something over 100 amps.

Sorry didn't reply sooner, my power has been out for days.

On the Chevy alternator harness, pink/blk (F-field) goes to switched ignition and the brown wire (L) goes to the voltmeter/charge light circuit. If you utilize the sense wire (large red one) then that should be hooked to where to the terminal strip where all your positive connections to accessories are made.  You can get the plug at most auto parts stores, with a pigtail.

On the Toy harness, red is the switched ignition and yellow is the charge indicator (this uses your charge lamp to excite the alternator) .

Good info on Pirate, this one is the 3.slow.
http://pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?&threadid=207958

Everyone should read this.
http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billavista/Wiring/Part2/

My alternator is a CS 130, from a 1992 Chevy S-10 and pumps out 100 amps.  The CS 144 is the newer higher output, but has a different frame and might not fit your bracket.  You can source High Output alternators from many suppliers.  Just make sure they use the same frame.  Remember HEAT is the #1 killer of alternators.

Good luck

Just a little help, if you run the heavy white wire to the starter post that the batt connects to it runs fine and works. Then take the other three wires and either run gauges or block them and bam, no $ spent and the yota works fine.
