AllPro flat bed kit!!!
« on: Feb 16, 2010, 08:20:51 AM »
I want to do a flat bed, but I wanted some input on what the better kit would be. I have looked at AllPro and I like theirs very much, but there could be better so I am asking you for your input. Thank you.

I copied theres with 1 3/4 tubing. Theres is not worth the money if you have a bender and welder

Just to let you know the AllPro kit only come with the tube, you would still have to get the Mat'l to make the sides and bed. Good luck with the build

I hope this doesn't discourage you but I would also strongly recommend just building your own. Maybe make friends with someone that owns a bender and welder. Good luck.

I have the allpro flat bed kit and love it, modifyed it slightly but overall the same look.  Actually just about to buile an exo to the front half.  But you do have to buy your own metal for the sides and the deck which could get a little spendy depending on what you put down.  You won't be disappointed if you buy it.

To each there own. Buying an allpro bed isn't a bad way to go.

they suck.the hitch they give you is to big for rear crossmember, gotta f**k with almost every peice to make it work, not tall enough to do an exo off of if you got any body lift.gotta buy plate to finnish deck and sides, might as well bend your own in the long run it works out money wise.i did a all pro bed when they were 100 bucks cheaper,so a while ago,it was junk, maybe they are better now.....?i ended up dumping about $1050 on allpro bed and metal to finish it right[d rings, tail lights,et....]
GOT ROCKS?

Since you need to be able to weld or know/pay someone in order to build the All-pro one, you might see what it will cost a local fab shop to build you one.  If you are going to pay a shop to put the bed together, expect to pay another $500 for labor/consumables, and that might not include the metal plate to finish the bed.

If you don't have any experience building things from scratch, you might check out your local junior/community college and see if it offers a welding class.  You might be able to build yourself an f-bed as a class project, and end up learning a skill all for less than their kit costs.

or if there is a local college thats a cot (college of technology) that offers a welding class stop in and talk to an instructor. Studends are always looking for projects and the teacher will put a good student that welds awsome on your project. Another plus to that is they wont usually charge labor and they get discounts on steel. My class does it all the time for local farmers etc.
