here's my front bumper I'm just starting it going to have stinger and corner guards.

with xrc8 winch in center and some lights of some sort.

going to make it beefy

Here's What i did today. Got to cut a inch off front to bring it in a little. 


What size tube on a stinger do you guys think?

looks good so far!  i say use some 1.75" tubing for the stinger.  Since it is a beefy plate bumper i think anything smaller would'nt look right.

don't know yet its becoming a little heavy so trying to keep weight down

winch is 94 lbs to add to all of it at the end to.

I have been looking into making a plate bumper for my truck.  My thoughts are that I will make the winch mount out of thicker plate to hold up to the winch functions, but I want to make the sides out of thinner plate to try and keep the weight down.  Also with thinner metal it would also serve the function of what a bumper is for, to crush in an accident.  I want to have some crush ability so that if I ever get in an accident then all that force isn't transfered into the frame.  It's pretty easy to fix a bumper.  Not so easy to fix a frame.

got some welding done and cut 1"off the hole front to keep it tighter and lose a little weight.

the out side is thinner metal but still stout don't think it will bend a hole lot.

good choice.  my old one was 1/4" and seemed to be ok, but i think i will use 3/8" for the mounting plate on my next one.

Ya man 1 3/4" is the way to go on the stinger! THis thing is gona be way cool and super heavy to. HA H A looks good man! keep it up

got some back bracing done and the front basically how its going to go.

started cutting on sides today a lot of torching and layout.

new addition to the rig 50 MPG now

looks great!  It looks like it fits pretty tight and doesnt stick out much for a plate bumper.

That's what i was going for i always see these things that stick so far out there. really helped making one out of wood so easy to manipulate.

going to put it on the scale its not as heavy as i thought but not done with all bracing

hows your rig do on 40s want to move up when these are gone. any broken parts or things you have to upgrade other that the basics. got brakes and cromo anything moore.
