This Thread is Featured in our Tech from our Forum Members section!

Hey guys, I was searching around for this information when I realized it had been deleted. So I looked through my backups and found it!

I know this has been done many times, but I wanted to throw this together to get it linked to our tech section on our www site.

First I had to cut the front of my sliders off, I will section 2 1/2" out of them and weld the front back on.

Pulled the fenders and marked the firewall

Time to start cuttin

other side

Ground the undercoating off- NASTY! and cleaned up sheetmetal in preperation for new piece to be welded on.

cut, fit and welded in new pieces

passenger side

Sliders sectioned and welded back together

Covered everything with undercoating

marked the fenders

That's the tough way to do it...  On my 81 all I did was cut a pie section out and pound it back, folded the seam over and welded it back in.  Went right to the body mount in one fell swoop.

Black is the first cut, red is the second.  Leave the pinch seam where the inner fender used to attach and pound it back to the red line.  Then ya just fold it over onto the side of the firewall and stitch it together.  Just be sure to move the wiring inside the cab of you will have to rewire your tailights...  Ask me how I know. :gap:

Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??
