Ok time to make fun of my custom front bumper
« on: Aug 02, 2009, 08:22:20 AM »
I made this front bumper without the use of many tools I needed. Heck I basically used a chop saw, grinder and a HF wire feed.  Took me a little longer then it should have since I did all the angles by sight for the most part.  hense why you can make fun of it.  I wanted to do a design ive never seen before and this well came to life.  All and all I think it looks pretty decent.  I just need to correct the angles of the wrap around part of bumper.  I am also going to be adding 2 more pieces to it as soon as I can get some more pipe.  More or less to make it able to hold a winch and add more mounting points.

Ya I plan on cutting them at the level right below where the fender flare is.  I am trying to keep this truck looking somewhat stock I guess.  Like not trimming the flares out and bobbing bed ect.  Well see how it looks with it cut and the new support pieces put in.
What do yall think of the design ? Is it funky ? I went for something way diff.  I am gonna get a piece of plate and cut it the deminsion of the center part above the lower bar and then take it down and have TOYOTA cut into it.  I think that would look wicked.  Well see.
Ok I am off to go put my sliders on.  One side is welded up just need to get it welded to frame and other still needs to be cut.
Not sure if I should gusset the supports or not.  Not sure I am gonna be doing too serious of wheelin to be on them too much.

It looks ok. But the pass side piece that wraps around doesn't look level.

Doesn't look half bad.    Otherwise, given the range of tools you used it looks rather good.

If there's room to tweak it a bit and straighten her out she'll look that much better along with the little bit of fender trimming.

Thanks guys  I did trim the fenders today as well as fixed the angles and cleaned up a few other little things.  Its look a ton better but paint was too wet to put it back on.  I spent a while today installing my sliders which is chore with a crappy wire feed welder.   Ill post some pics tomorrow of bumper and sliders.  Plus I need to modify the bumper to fit a Ramsey 6000 winch which I traded for today.
