Odd swap question!
« on: Oct 18, 2004, 07:40:08 PM »
Hello.

I have a 90 Jeep Wrangler 4.2 engine with an automatic transmission and also have a rare engine I would like to intall in the Wrangler.  The engine is from a 1986 Lincoln but is a 2.4 liter BMW turbo diesel.  My desire in to put the engine that gets upward of 35 MPG and that is very desireable in this high priced fuel world.

My question is, where could I find an adaptor for this swap or some place that could fabricate the adaptor plate and other needed parts.

could always run the stock tranny that comes with the bimmer and use a divorced transfer case setup.  only real concern would be length, but i don't think it's that big of a deal in a wrangler(maybe if you had a flatty or cj5 though)

That's a good idea, but length would be a concern.Believe it or not,the YJ is fairly short as well. Not as much as a CJ-5,but it's still short.
