My new toy
« on: Mar 27, 2009, 09:37:17 AM »
I've been working on this for a while now and I'm getting close to completion.  I'm using an axial SXC10 frame, axial axles and transmission.  I picked up an fj40 body for it and I'm almost done building an interior roll cage that bolts to the frame.  It is 4 link rear and 3 link front with a pan hard bar.
I'm making the roll cage out of 1/4" breakline and brazing it together, I'm making it so when the body is off it will look like a buggy crawler.  What do you think so far?

I picked up some gun metal grey and pearl white, the pearl white is just the top and the rest is the gun metal gray.  This was the first body I ever painted so it came out kinda bad but I will run it for now and make a comp body out of it later when I get a new body and paint it really nice. here are some pics.  I have almost completed the roll cage I'll get some pics of that later today, I'm also going to try to finish my shock hoops and have it a roller by the end of the day.

Thanks, no I don't have any stickers for the grill or headlights, the body didn't come with any, I may look around to see if I can find some.

the family is doing very well, My Faith is 2 1/2 now and Wesley is a10 months tomorrow, and he is just starting to cruise.
Yeah I'm still working for Winco in Woodburn (close to wilsonville). I'm waiting to find out if I can transfer to our new warehouse in Boise, ID in late summer.
We were at the cheese factory last month and I was thinking about giving you a call to see how you've been doing also, I just need to get on the board more often to keep caught up on peoples lives.  Good to hear from you, I like your build up page I hope that ecm came in handy.

Yeah, the ecm I bought from you was a backup incase the one I had didn't work.  And then I ended up with another somehow, so now I have 2 spares and all the crap for the turbo motor.  :shake_head:  But I bought some axle shafts for a front axle, and just need a housing and knuckles.     But Marlin did check them out for me before $ exchanged hands.  Give me a heads up next time you come down.  My cell # hasn't changed for 15 years!  :phone:
