Updates?

the engine my sister and chiropractor worked to find before i had surgery ended up being fubar.   My chiropractor friend called his friend that we got the engine from and he said "well it was supposed to be good"  :slap:
So he made the guy refund the cash and I ordered the parts I need to rebuild my .060 block.
I havent had time to work on it because a friends wife drove their suburban home from 40 miles away with no coolant :yikes:  so it spun the number 1 rod bearing and welded number 2 and number 3 main bearings to the crank.

I've seen flat camshafts, but never one with that kind of damage.  That looks like the result of a porosity problem during casting.

Kind of a hard decision on that.  I would look at the cam and see where the lifter actually hits it.  When I changed HG, I notice my cam only had some wear mostly right at and just before and behind the very tip of the lobe.

I knew a guy that has some import mufflers on his Mustang Cobra and it sounded amazing. They were not cheap mufflers and the resulting sound was so smooth.

In school I use to build a " dropped Pressure" resonator. No muffler and just my resonator on 4 cyl engine was some of the smoothest rumbles you have ever heard.  I was thinking of making one for the Tacoma :flamer:.. :eyebrow:.

You could take a fine fine and file the top layer of paint off to expose the aluminum. Not white but it looks good

It's not right using an early head with a newer valve cover. Need to show off that head by using the slant front valve cover.  :twocents:

Mine did the same to the top of my valve cover so I massaged the plate inside a little bit more where I saw signs of contact.  My cam isn't as big as yours though
