After some great info from Marlin both here and over at PBB, I think I've got a plan of attack.

My 93 4Runner has the A340H auto tranny.  Not a thing wrong with it.  Shifts like new.  Too bad the T-case can't be removed.

So what I've learned is that the 93-95 T100 auto tranny is a direct bolt in for my 4Runner.  Same sensors, wiring, etc.  The great thing about this trans is that the T-Case can be removed.  The trans code on these T100's is A340F.  Now that I have an urge to crawl, I plan to locate one of these transmissions and set up a dual ultimate with twin sticks.

Here's what I have (or will have):

A340F Tranny
(2) 1983 Top Shift Cases (both 21 spline I think)

What all parts do I need to link it all together?  I was looking at the V6 Dual Ultimate Kit, but wondered if that was all I needed.  Do I need another 23 spline input gear?

Thanks in advance!!

Thanks for making it over to the Marlin Crawler board :beerchug:

Since the auto output shaft is 23 spline, you will need one input for sure. I would strongly advise installing a 23 input in the rear case to prevent the 21 spline from breaking.

You got the proper top shifting t/cases. Make sure you have two t/case handles and at least one t/case to crossmember mount. It is differance than the auto mount.

With the V6 dual ultimate kit, you would only need the V6 to 4 cyl gear driven auto adapter plate.
This would be a kick ass setup :driving:

Thanks for the reply Marlin.

From your site:

"Dual Ultimate kit includes V6 plate, MC07, 1 input gear, and 23 spline 4.70 gears for the rear case."

Are you saying I just need an extra 23 spline input?  It looks like the "kit" has the V6 plate and 1 input gear already.

If I understand this, each T-Case needs a 23 spline input?  So one in the "kit" and an extra will cover it?  Will the 2.28 stock gears work with this 23 spline input?

Thanks - sorry for all the newbie crawler questions...

Hey cebby,

The Dual Ultimate Kit does shows one 23-spline input but it also includes the input for the 4.70 gear set.

....

You know, I just looked all over our website and I cant find the V6 Ultimate kit. :headscratch:

Anyways, heres a pic of just the standard - non-ultimate - V6 dual case kit:

This one shows both input gears. The Ultimate kit would include (1) 2.28:1 Turbo Input Gear and (1) 4.70:1 :turtle: Input Gear

So yes, you definately need an input per low range unit.

Thanks Big Mike!!  So the V6 Ultimate has everything I need!  That is awesome.  You've made it really attractive to buy the kit versus piecing it together.

Now to find that low mileage 93-95 T100 A340F.... :eyebrow:

cebby, I too am looking at the same mod. I spent a few hours at a local dealer looking at Toyota Tech specs on the T100 trannys and it looks like the 93 and 94 had the correct speed sensor. Looks like the 95 T100 V6 Auto was changed out during the year and may or may not have the correct sensor so be aware. Availability is the next big issue . I found 1 unit online and it was twice the price of one of the newer ones that would need milled. I was planning to do this swap next year so I will look forward to hearing you progress. Good Luck.javascript:void(0);
