New Product - Tubing Half Doors
« on: Aug 19, 2004, 09:35:16 PM »

Simple yet strong tubing construction lets the sunshine in and keeps the rocks out. Three different Models to fit all Pickups and 4Runners from 1979 - 1995. Removable pin latches door closed and thanks to a rubber stop in the door, it's completely rattle free. Half doors ship unpainted and include closing pin. Ready to paint and bolt on. Half doors are hand built by fellow Toyota wheeler George Breakall. All applications $195 pair.

Your going to need to unplug the harness and fish it back through. It took me about 1 1/2 hours to remove the front doors on my 93 4Runner, so I would figure about the same for yours.

Excellent job on the model, hottie fo sho!!

Now to the doors, does the latch hang on anything on the door?  In a roll, it looks like that pin would fall right out and then your door is flopping and banging around.  Not only that it looks like that pin would pierce your skull.   :hammer:

 ???  :headscratch:

Just a thought.  :twocents:

85 Runner, 5" All-Pro Extreme Lift, Complete Marlin T-Case with new TS 4.7 gears, Super Birfields(Longfields), 5:29's, Detroited front, Spooled rear, 36" TSL's, Bikini top.

Yes, Livin in Kansas sucks azz!!

Yes the pin could come out in a full roll onto the roof. I'd suggest not rolling all the way onto the roof.

The doors look awsome Chris, but will there be an upgrade to a self-latching unit available in the future?

George does not want to change the latch. Personally I would like to see a latch, we may try to do something in the future. Adding a latch may add $50 to $100 to the price, that's a bummer.

We are also looking at other door designs for possable adition to our line in the future. I really like the doors on Marlin's truck. They have a nice latch on them that releases with a simple push on a button.  Here is a photo...

Chris, I think most people would pay the extra to have a latching system that was more user friendly. Marlin's doors are very nice...If you are looking at getting those done, don't forget about us 2nd gen guys....

Marlin's doors use the factory latch. Marlin's doors were made from a set of used factory doors. They were cut down and the tubing was added across the door. The tubing is padded with roll bar padding. The latch is operated by a push button. Just push the putton and the door pops open. It feels the same as if you were inside the truck and pulled the handle.

These doors would be very expensive due to the huge amount of time they take and the cost of factory doors.
