look on the side of the carb. you will see two little plates (on the inside closes to the intake) the one in the front is the model number and on the other plate is the serial number
IF YOUR LOOKING OUT THE FRONT OF YOUR 4X4 AND YOU CANT SEE THEN JUST TURN ON YOUR WIPERS. BUT THEN THINGS GET ALL MESSED UP LIKE IN LIFE.

I just wanted to pop in here and say a few things about tuning these carburetors that I’ve learned. I have a weber 3838 outlaw manual choke that I got as part of a performance kit from LC engineering when I first bought the truck and I didn’t know until I went to re-jet after installing an air fuel gauge in the 20/22r hybrid that I just built because my old 22r  had a valve break and destroy the block and the head. So what I didn’t realize is LC engineering had tuned this carburetor to what they thought was best which meant they put in 135 main jets when it originally had 150 main jets and if you don’t buy the kit then that’s how it would come, not knowing this and my truck having a 268 cam and headers I never realized how lean I was running  which I now suspect is what destroyed my engine. My old engine ran great I thought but I now realize it was showing a lot of characteristics of an engine that is incredibly lean. I love my weber 3838 and I’m very glad  that I have a wideband O2 sensor it’s made it way easier to tune  turning those screws on the side doesn’t do anything but affect the idle. I guess my point is that I assumed because a lot of people complained that these carburetors have drivability issues that I thought the way my truck was behaving was normal  and that weber carbs were just a bit unrefined but I’ll tell you now that I’ve tuned it properly it drives way beyond my  expectations when it comes to drivability. I think having someway to figure out what your air fuel mixture actually is such as a wideband O2 sensor to me is going to be an essential part of tuning from now

So I really like the design of the LC engineering spiral adapter for the 22R intake but the mounting is different for the 20R so are used an adapter plate to move the spiral adapter over to the 22R intake which seems to be working really nice

Yeup, I run Weber 38s on my 22Rs ....definitely "woke them up" I run a straight through exhaust with shorty headers that plus 5.29s gives me much more lowend torque

I'm considering a weber38 for my build, I do have a 32/36 just feel like I might make more power with the 38. Been doing a bit of reading into these old things as I have no real previous experience with carbs. Trying to edumacate myselfz

If jetted properly a 32/36 (what I run) will outperform on the highway, a 38.

The last CFM number I have for the Weber 38 is 390?

For the 32/36 its 240.

But those numbers could be wrong?

Just from a CMF rating, why would the 32/36 out perform a 38?

the 32/36 dumps fuel in at a progressive rate and has a cfm of 326 not 240.
I had the use of a 38 for a couple weeks and while it did give more off the line it didnt have the secondary poof at 3/4 to full throttle the 32/36 has.

Hey 79....

Interesting... I did not know the difference in how the fuel is delivered between the 32 36 and the 38 38.

You are correct.  I did some research after your post and it appears those who have tested, or tried both report generally that the 32 36 does in fact have a much smoother and less pedal sensitive throttle response.

And, if jetted correctly, the 32 26 should produce enough AFR for the engine it's fueling.
