A bold statement by ford

Has anybody else seen the recent ford commercials claiming they're quality is now as good as toyota's?

That's not saying much since the new yota's are not nearly as good as the old.

Its because they're made in America....I'm convinced of that...The Japanese made toyotas are far superior IMO

Not sure exactly which 'quality' they are using...  maybe 'Initial Quality', which means...  I dunno, maybe fewest complaints while still on the showroom floor?  I doubt Ford is ahead of anyone after a few years of ownership.

I am forced to drive mostly Fords at work (for the past 27+ years).  That alone will keep me from ever buying one.   :twocents:

I did hear that, and I did laugh.  There's no way Ford can compare their vehicles to Toyota... but then again, Toyota compares their vehicles to the big 3 all the time - so it's kinda "what goes around comes around".

But it is rediculous cuz there is no comparison!

I find it amusing when people tow their yota trail rig with a ford. I guess if the tow rig breaks down you have a second vehicle with ya.

My wife and I have owned 2 fords in the past(zx2 and exploder) and will never own one again. I will only own Chevy's and Yota's now. Well a Cummins power Dodge would be nice for towin, but my 96 Silverado does just fine in that department for now.
I don't need a winch, I wheel a TOYOTA!!!!!!!

So is this Ford's admission that their previous junk was in fact junk? I've heard this commercial and laughed at it, there is no way that they can achieve this level of quality. It's not Quality Is Job 1 it is Quality Of A Junk Ford! I'd never ever buy another Ford no matter if they were guaranteed never to breakdown.

I hear that comercial in the background noise wile on the computer. I got the attention of the hole house verry quickly with my rant! My wife gave me a funny look and said ,"its sad when one auto make boast about being as good as another". I guess Ford has finally openly admitted to having lower standards than Toyota for the last XXX years.

All these new ford comercials are gonna do is get loyal ford owners looking at toyota as an option when buying. Ford motors is ignorant for nationally admitting to striving to be as good as another auto manufactuer.

I say its good for toyota!

Never liked fords, never have owned them in the past (family included) except for my grandpa's '66 mustang, that he bought in '72.  He's been talking about giving it to me :woohoo:  I'll drive that one with pride!! :gap:

Now, I drive a 2002 F250.  7.3, 6spd, etc.  Test drove and compared several different makes and models, and for my price range, and what I wanted it for (DD/capable tow rig) The F250 7.3 PSD with the 6spd won, hands down.  I wouldn't have settled for anything less, no 6.0, no auto.  Needed the cabin space, so the quad cab turned out perfect for my needs.

The only reason I ever even bought a new Ford was the price plain and simple. I regretted both buys.

But that's where they get their rating from, initial buyers ratings. Had nothing but issues from day 1 on them. Trying to think of any issues I had with my Toyota buys, can't think of any at all. In fact none of them ever needed to be taken in for any warranty issues.

I am forced to drive mostly Fords at work (for the past 27+ years).  That alone will keep me from ever buying one.   :twocents:

"highest initial quality" is no better than saying it looks best on the cover of motor trend magazine.  Hey ford, get back with me after you've called all the owners in 5 years and dealt with some ass chewins!  They're mouth is writing a check their ass can't check...

I remember seeing one of the big 3 reps doing an interview at a big car expo or something, and he openly admitted that their quality wasn't, and hadn't ever been, on par with that of the japanese, BUT they were continually making improvements and trying to address known issues.  That gave me a little more respect for them (just wish I could remember which one, though I think it was chrysler), and a shitpile more respect than I give companies who make such..... flamingly stupid claims as ford  :shake:

I've long said if quality is job 1 at ford, what the hell is job two???  Obviously not wiring  :_oops:

Maybe this thread should be titled, A desperate shot in the dark, brought to you by Ford.
If things were going well for Ford they most likely wouldn't have sold Land rover and Jaguar to  the Indain auto maker Tata.

These days stock for stock 98% of the vehicles sold are reliable and last just as long as the next one.  Not that its a good thing, all the new rigs are big steaming cow turds but they are the same none the less....  :hahaha:
