Time for a new front bumper
« on: Dec 03, 2007, 08:44:27 PM »
Made my first trail ride two weekends ago since I built the truck and noticed quickly that I need something way better than the factory bumper. Well I didn't have $400 bucks extra for a bumper so time to head to Harbor Freight and pick up a $29.00 universal winch plate and pull my old Warn 9,000 out of the shed and see how to make it fit.

Next borrow my buddy's  Harbor Freight pipe bender and  call my son in law over to give a helping hand.

Add some support for the bumper and see if the bends are correct.

This is what we ended up with

We then put the winch in to see is we had enough room and left the grill lose thats why it is not square in the picture.

DirToyBoy, The winch plate from Harbor Freight is 1/4" thick.

fordh8r, My list of things to do on the truck is slowly getting smaller.

Hey what's up Josh? Yea it's way cut up now. I think it is similar to the one you have on your truck. One more night of welding and I can start on my plate that will sandwish the frame to hold the bumper in place.

If you ever had a problem with it you can always swich the rollers out for one of those plates that allow it to slide on  it.
