Ladies and Gentleman,  I have been searching my ass off and cannot really find anything on the topic.  I am wanting to dovetail or narrow (what ever you call it) the front of my 84.  I know I can figure it out, but it would be nice to see some pictures or hear some ideas........  Do's and Don'ts are always a great thing too.  If anyone has pictures of how you did it with some type of explaination...........  that would be great!

I dovetailed the front of my old truck. Cut it off and started from scratch. I have a build up of it here.

Looks good my friend!  I love the wheeling pictures.  I would love to get my crap box out west to wheel..........  But it would cost big $$$$$.  What piping did you use to get your water to your radiator in the bed of the truck?

removing the radiator running it til it got hot. Flip the switch the fan on to keep it cool. Put a hose in the radiator and hold a towel over it. It actually works quite well. I know they make some bleeding air kit thing at like summit. But how I did it, it pushed out the air pockets.

I did mine a few years back....bobbed then dovetailed rear then dovetailed front.
Once you move your fenders in wards they will shorten...so if your looking to keep it the length of the hood...your will have to make the fenders longer....as well as the inner fenders.
here is a link to my dovetail...it starts off with the rear...but Keep looking the front is in their.

and here is my photo gallery everything thing that has to do with my build.

here is another link to just the front...they pics are not so great camera phone...but you get the idea

last pic.

Good luck....On the radiator support. I cut the headlight section off and moved them inwards...that will determine how much angle you get. They last thing I cut was the hood. sense your cutting the ends off. I saved the side peaces that run the length of the hood that meets the fender. I welded the end sections back on...it makes the hood stronger..
I wish I had better pics....I hope you get what I am saying.LOL
anyway good luck...and measure twice and cut once.

14"s out of the hood, hoodline lowered about 2.5"s.  Gap We cut everything off in front of the firewall and started over. No inner fenders, no core support. Lowering the radiator and mounting the air filter were the biggest PITA's.

Why not beat the norm. Make your rig as wide in the front and rear as possible. Itll be different!
