I have a 94 ext cab w/76 350 and I snapped a rocker arm stud :smack:. The heads are fine though . I'm having a 3 angle valve job done and I need to know the torque specs/tightening order for when I put the heads back on :help:. Somebody reply soon(my heads will be ready Thursday) :nerv:.Theres a bunch of civics nearby :psss:.
I'd rather push a Toyota than drive a Jeep!!!

  • Don't blame me, I didn't vote for this crap.
The sequence is just a spiral pattern going clockwise.  Start in the center and start spinning.  I always torque them down in stages.  I start at 35 then go up to 50 then final torque is at 65-70 foot lbs.

Brainless,
Good point with cleaning bolts and holes first.

I may be speaking out of my element but, anything but dry treads can lead to over torqueing.  Aren't most head bolt torque specs for dry bolts?

Yeh there area different specs for lubed threads as upposed to dry.  I want to say its around 30% less torque required for lubed threads.
