« on: Mar 26, 2006, 07:25:29 PM »
:yesnod: I finally got another Yoat!! Picked this thing up on Thursday night. This thing is bone stock. 241 on the clock. The paint isn't that great, but theres only three big dents and they're in the bed anyway. Here's a coupla pics.

Don't worry, the steps are gone.. :haha:

Better now:

Wow..talk about a base model  not even a volt gauge...

told you it was BONE stock:

Don't give me any crap cuz it's dirty; I just got it.  EDIT: It's not that bad, I was running Seafoam thru it when I took the pic.  That's why it's smoky looking.

Supposedly the trans was built 20k ago.  Looks clean enough to support it.  All it needed was a tuneup and I gotta get a carrier bearing  so the driveline will stay in it till I can go duals.  The 4.88s outta my wreck are goin in as soon as I get the cash for wheels and tires.

Damn from them pics looks like the front springs are nearly at a negative arch. I like the nice coat of oil on the entire underside, uhm...natural rust inhibitors

uhm, you do realize, the truck is STOCK and like 22 years old...show me a stock 22R that doesn't leak at the crank seal anyway.  BTW, every set of stock springs I've seen sits like that, and I didn't say it was rubicon ready.

Yep, every 84 or 85 I have seen has near negative arch. I have never been under a stock 1st gen or really close enough to look.

here ya go:

I'd like to use my old sliders, but If I do, I'll hafta extend them.  Old truck was shortbed/reg cab. This thing is shortbed/xtra cab, and the sliders need to be longer to protect the whole cab.

OK, these are for meanokie..he won't let me live this down till everyone can see em.  You've seen the shell(which I'm still sportin') and the steps(which are becoming beer cans) so here is the custom Sanyo tape deck , non-working Midland CB and the No-Name tach that reads at 50% of actual RPMs.

The 1st gens got it too, mine was bad.  Toyota marketed it as a "soft ride" feature back in the day.  good luck on the truck.

I dunno, I think it was made for a different year truck; when the front mounts are flat on the bed, the wheelwell mounts are like 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inches above, and I had to use some steel plates  level it out.  I might sell it and buy a new one.

when i had it on mine i put a peice of square tube under it to level it out....I have done a lot of work sense the time you saw my rig. Right now i have the front axle pulled and all beefed up, 30spline longs going in, and an ARB locker

OK, that tape deck had to go!  I had this laying around with a brand new wire harness, so I threw her in.

Even got to use the stock connectors!! How cool is that!

So, I got rid of this:

and have this in it's place.

Just gotta trim the bezel to get it around the new deck, and fit some plastic around the CB.

Finally got the shell off, here's a full pic(sorry for the crappy quality, it's dark and rainy.):

Also got the console done:

And a pic of the trim plate with the mic bracket.  It was cracked, so I plated the back with 20 Ga steel and then bolted it up.

I've pulled the upper shifter boots and am working on making some new ones.  Pics to follow...

OK, had to get rid of that shifter boot(don't forget, this is a DD/Wheeler, not a trail only rig.  It's gotta be decently clean)  The stitches might not be the greatest, but I don't think it looks too bad.
this thing was in horrible shape:  :reg:

So I built this: ( :yesnod: yep, I did it)

New boots sewn together and with metal frame sewn in:

In the bezel:

and here's the finished product:

i guess I'm :bling: now!!
