I didn't think they were horrible, I only drove for 5 min on some very smooth roads. That, and the only other lifted pickup I've been in is the jeep nut's F350, which rides like a 4 wheeled pogo stick. (6 shocks on the front axle, I don't know about the back, I think it's got a skyjacker kit too).

Bed's off now. I'll get pics after I scrape some crap off the frame, (you really shouldn't mud if you don't want to clean the underside of your truck off, unless you like having 20 pounds of dirt stuck underneath).

Pics. Also pulled the skyhacker shocks off, they were half the reason the back end was so stiff. Can anyone see what's wrong with these rear spring packs? My dad and I both are stumped as to what this linkage on the rear axle does, it runs from the axle up to the brake lines in the rear, yet seems to serve no purpose at all. Going to get a front drive shaft done as soon as the front springs are in, so It'll be up and wheelable as soon as that happens, that and my dad gets the mods done to his rig trailer (dove tail and second axle so he can haul my truck or his Jeep).

without even seeing the pic i know your talking about the Load sensing brake proportioning valve,  as the truck is loaded it comes down lower,  so the LSBPV  puts more pressure to the rear brakes

Ya, that doohicky is stupid...well its useful on a stock height truck but once you lift it ang go with larger sized tires it loses its value. Just take the rod off all together. Thats what I did with mine and I havnt noticed any difference. Oh and by the way, thats a nice looking truck. I'm interested to see how your flat bed turns out. The troop carrier idea is pretty cool.

Cool I have something to do this afternoon, pulled bumpers and spare tire stuff off yesterday. Front bumper was held on with 2 bolts and a zip tie.

zipties rock (my trucks name is ziptie LOL)

so you are saying I can chuck the LSBPV altogether?  I rock 36"s soon to be 38"s... my roommate pulled the fittings and filled them with solder but left the unit there just in case and he had no problems.  sorry to hijack. I'm going away now

I just pulled the linkage out, since my brakes are mushy enough as it is and I don't feel like bleeding them right now. I can already put the pedal to the floor without much effort when the truck's running. The PO actually tried to lift the arm with the truck (moved bottom of axle bracket to the top hole). DIY yeah, this guy really loved zip ties, even used them to mount the tach and grille, which is smashed and broken anyhow, I think I'm gonna go with an early 3rd gen grille.

I love zipties too.  at one time my entire dash and cluster/ grille were ziptied b/c I lost all the hardware.  then I took it all out except for the hoodie/cluster but that's coming out too

All my stuff from sky showed up, and I've got the majority of the cutting and drilling for my rear bumper done, just waiting on my front springs to start in on the suspension, bumper (including 2 shackels, for tow points) will be done this weekend.

First fab of the project done! Spent a few hours today doing this. Main tube is 5x2 .250 wall, the mounts/shackle points (which go through the tube and mount inside the frame) are 3"x1/2" flat bar. Also got the stickers off the back window and started scraping the :stopit: blue/purple tint out (pic was taken before that started)

weight is a rough estimate from when I almost dropped it pulling it out of the frame to weld it up after I tacked it together. I had to hammer it out with a dead blow so I wasn't in optimal catching position. I think it looks good, but I'm a tad bit biased. Got to use my new toy too, 7.5 amp Craftsman professional 4.5 inch angle grinder.

Got my springs in, front's were a bit of a pain and I'm gonna have to heat and bend some steering components to clear the u bolts so I can move it around. These F150's are SOFT, even for the second to highest weight rating. Over all gained about an inch of lift and might need a little more in the back. If anyone's doing this swap in the rear though, I recomend this sky manufacturing swap kit, some high quality stuff.
