How many of you have the '05 + Tacoma's?  I know most of you probably have the older models, I was just curious to see how many there were here.

Cool!  Yeah, the power is preety good.  I actually like how tight the truck is built too.  When you shut the doors you can tell they were designed well.

unfortunately, when the SAS kits start coming for these trucks,i'll have to pass. i can't afford to void any warranties, but it would be sick to have done.  the ride's too good stock anyways!

Maybe,  But at this time I wouldn't hold your breath.  They are still going to use the 4.7 and the 4,0 in the tundra so I'm guessing that they will not put a V8 in the tacoma.

Your right!  The ride was pretty good, but thats why I also have a 2004 4Runner sport with the 4.7 in it.

Theres a new 5.7 coming for the Tundra too.  Maybe a diesel option if we get really lucky.

Theres no reason the couldn't fit the 4.7 V8 in the Tacoma tho...but who knows if they'll actually do it.

To me, it makes sense to have the v8 offered in the truck and not the 4Runner.  I mean, what would you haul the most weight or tow with, the truck or the runner?  The only logical explination why they don't offer the v8 for the new tacos is because they want a bigger difference between them and the Tundras so they can sell more of the big trucks to people who need the extra power (so they can also have a larger profit margin).

I don't own a new taco, but I drive plenty of them at work.  I like the new motors, but the frame is a C channel design.  I don't care how much you try to convince me, but the older style boxed frame will always win in my book - for off road and for withstanding an accident.

Sure is cheaper to make! - and lighter to help Toyota acheive it's performance #'s the general public looks at more than I do.

I work for toyota and have not heard anything confirming this, and I've really been digging around.  I sure hope they come out with a diesel though.  The diesel technology they use in Europe is ausome!

I've got an 05 .... that's it right here - http://www.craigslist.org/eby/car/151004380.html

Marin took a look underneath ... said he likes ..... R series tranny ...

what can i say .. if i didn't try to qualify for a loan for a house in fresno .. i wouldn't be selling it as it was intended to be a keeper.

ya .. wider than the older ones .. but i'm fine w/ that. a set of larger tires on the older taco will increase the vehicle width much more than what toyota increased the cab with .... several inches.
can't beat the gas mileage, can't beat the quality ...

oh .. and 6 inch lift does exist ... look around, i forgot the name of the company, it's been done and there is at least 1 kit out for sale.

The width of the new ones dosen't really bother me at all.  If you build them right they can go anywhere the older ones can.

Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you on this.  Didn't know it was here..

Ok.  Where do I begin?

Axles are, front is a Currie Rock Jock 60 with 5.38 gears an ARB air locker, 35 spline axle shafts and Ford F450 1 ton knuckles with Wilwood disc brakes.  The rear axle is a Currie heavy duty Dana 60 shaved for ground clearence with 5.38 gears an Arb air locker, 35 spline axle shafts and Wilwood rear disc brakes.  It has Bilstien 14" travel coil overs in the front with remote reseviors and duel rate eibach springs.  The rear has 62" Deaver leaf springs with 14" travel Bilstien shocks with remote reseviors also.  The tires are 40 x 13.50 x 17 Goodyear MTR Rock Spiders  and the wheels are 17" Eagle aloys.  The front bumper, sliders, rear tube work, and transfer case cross member are all made by DeMello-Offroad and the front and rear fenders are from Glassworks Unlimited.   I'm sure there is something I forgot but for now that is plenty.

Sure is a sweet truck though.  Lots 'o :bling:

Nice, looks like a dual purpose:  prerunning/rock crawler

Now that we've seen some pics of it in the rocks, do you have any of it in the desert?

unfortunately, when the SAS kits start coming for these trucks,i'll have to pass. i can't afford to void any warranties, but it would be sick to have done.  the ride's too good stock anyways!

Hey man, I just voided my warranty this weekend, 2006 dub cab stick TRD.  Fabtech 6" lift with Dirt Logic all round, the truck rides WAY better than stock with the Dirt Logics in there.  I found the stock shocks in the rear were pretty whimpy stock, I heard of some other guys going with the higher series Bilsteins to overcome that though.  If you are near London, ON, come take it for a rip. ;)
