« on: Jan 19, 2006, 02:05:22 PM »
Ok, so I have decided to SA the Migo.  I picked up an '83 Toy front axle last night :woohoo: , and ordered the knuckle rebuild kit and high steer from Marlin :beerchug: This is gonna go kinda slow, but thought I'd start the thread anyway :woohoo:

I plan on goin to PnP to get leafs and shackles :crossed:  :blah:

Here's the axle, (figured before, during, and after pics would be neat), so here goes!!! :woohoo: :hyper:  :hammerhead:

I'm not sure what springs to go with.  I am thinkin Waggys or Rangers (since yotas aren't real popular at PnP), but my problems is the length.  I have 20" in front of the axle to the end of the frame, so I have to find some springs that'll fit that.  I'm going to make some measurements before I go to PnP and see what they have that'll work when I get there.

I'm gonna run a spring over in the rear which will give me about 6", maybe a lil more, then that's all I'm goin with.  Hopefully even the front out with that.

Tires..... Haven't got that far yet, but I'm hopin to be able to run 35's :crossed: As for what type... :headscratch: I haven't quite decided yet :eyebrow: but I've always been partial to MT/R's and Boggers :wink2:

Any recommendations? Feel free to throw out yer :twocents:

True, I just don't wanna walk by the front of my rig and bang my knee on my brackets  So I'mma try to keep em within the vehicle, so they don't stick out for knee-aches :disturbed:

I'm hoping to keep the Migo axle, but if I have a problem with the gears, then I'll go with a yota.   :disturbed:

WOO HOO!  :beerchug:

Guaranteed to be the BEST thing that's ever happened to your Amigo, since YOU bought it, of course...

Maybe you can fab up a front spring hangar that will lengthen the frame a bit, and in turn increase you options for springs...

Also, consider Jeep springs- they're built for short wheelbase vehicles, and are CHEAP.  Scrounge the for sale section on PBB to see whats up.  Surely somebody put a 4" lift on an old YJ, and now wants 6" or something...

Now just point some fire at it and make it happen!

You would probably be better off going with a toy rear. I would imagin it would be a stronger axle than the Migo axle

'Migo has a 10 bolt in it if I remember right. Atleast thats what I remember FFC talkin bout. :dunno: But ya, I think a toy axle would be better off.

Great Idea, This is gonna be a sweet amigo.

Just a tought but you might be better off with a yto rearend, there are probley more options for them and the widths may be different, dont know for sure but the amigo rear may not be as wide as the yota.

the migos had either a disc brake 44  OR and 12bolt  which is a dropout third type axle that is much stronger than a GM 12bolt. and no  the yota axle is not stronger.  the 12bolt has abigger ring gear and bigger axles hafts

Ok guys, I haven't had a chance to get into it yet.  I was really busy with work this weekend, and this week I have to drive to LA... a last minute thing sorta.  So I'm hoping to get started if not this comin weekend then that following week.

I am still waiting on some parts in the mail and my friend has my front leafs and shackles that I have to pick up.  Between classes and work and going to LA this week, I'm hopin at least to get all the parts laid out so that I can make sure I have everything I need before I put the Migo on jacks.  TRUST ME  Ya'll'll be the first to know :yesnod:
