Toyota 15"x7" wide OEM rims
« on: Nov 05, 2005, 01:35:05 PM »
Probably a question that's circulated about the site in the past, but here I go anyhow.

For those of you with the OEM Toyota 15" x 7" wide rims, what sizes of tire have you run?  I have a set of 33x9.50 Super Swampers mounted up to mine right now, but am curious if anybody has tried to run a bigger time on the rim with success.  Specifically, has anybody run a 35x12.50 on this rim?  How about four-wheeled the rim with that size of tire on it.  My concern is that the rim is not wide enough for low pressures.  Thanks - Brandon  :hammer:

actually a narrow rim will do better with low pressure than a wider rim.  i wouldn't run 12.5 wide tires on that narrow of a rim, but for something like a 10.5 it'd be perfect.

i mounted a 15x6 toy whell with an 11.5 tire. it seated instantly and it has a little to much sidwall buldge. i think 12.5 would be excessive but 11.5 should work

Is this your daily driver?  If it is, you will have to run lower air psi on the hwy to get even tire wear, which in turn will also decrease your gas mileage!  It will work great on the trails with lower air psi!  I used to see this everyday at the tire shop!  I used to get yelled at the tire shop cause some idiot would have us put a wide tire on a noarrow rim and a month later he would be like, it road horrible, so I put more air in the tire to make it ride better and now the center is all worn out of the center of the tread.  We would always tell them that we reccommend a wider rim when we sold them the tires!  But, it was always our fault!  :smack:

Brandon-

I've got a set of 35's at the house if you want to try 'em out.  Also, Ron runs his 35's on a 7" wide rim with no problems, but we both know his truck hasn't seen the dirt since I did the SAS for him...
