The previous owner painted it from red to that green but ever since you have seen it its been green. His friends is a off white that im sure when I posted a pic of it, it kind of looked goldish from being dirty.

I have a question.  Can i get away with having a ratchet locker in the front of my xj and still have normal driving abilities.  if so what is probaly the best one out there for the price?    Or should i just get rid of the D-30 and lock something more worthwhile like a 44?

maybe, i'm getting away with a 30 and 35s. i'd reccomend switching axles, for the security of not having the 30. i haven't broken anything yet, niether has a friend with almost the same as me, but im in the process of throwing a 44 under mine. maybe a 60, still looking at what's more cost effective.

You have one of the few CJ8s that were produced in 86...85 was the last year they were produced but there was a very small ammount that was produced in 86 using 85 parts. As for your parts, your motor is a 258 (4.2).Front axle is a standard rotation Dana 30(assuming it's the stock axle),and the rear may either be an AMC Model 20,or a Dana 44.Most 1986 CJ7s with the 6 cylinders came factory equiped with a Dana 44 rear, but I'm not sure if the same is true for the CJ8s.And your T-Case I believe is a Dana 300...Nice start.

lol, yea i've got alot of project's in the works.

Plans include SPOA, D44's front and rear with ARB lockers, 35" MTR's, maybe some cage work, beef up the steering.

Right now its on 33's with a Chevy 350 and 4spd tranny, eventually im going to swap out the tranny and mate up a Dana 300.

It'll be a some-what mild build, nothing to extreme.

As money allows it'll grow   :)
