Tcase: 1.5 - 1.7 Quarts

Some transmissions have a larger cavity in their tailhousings, so as the transfercase is bolted up behind the trans, a bit more oil is needed to fill the larger cavity.... I believe it's the W's

How much more oil is in the back part of the t-case then in the front?  Like in the 4wd section rather then the front box part?  Or does anyone know?

Oh whoops, I think it's 0.8 quarts for a Crawl Box. So about 2.5 for a complete Dual Case.

I think he was just rounding up.  Cuzz 22r's take 4.9 quarts of oil, not 5, but i guess it doesn't hurt it.

Thanks for the correction. I had a question mark on that one, it was a complete guess. Im sure there is other data that is wrong to, so if you see something else, let me know-

I am not sure if it is all 3.0's take more.  I know mine has always taken more than the book calls for to register on the dip stick on my '90, as well as on my sisters '95.  I am curious if others find it takes more oil as well.

That may be becasue the oil filter absorbs about a pint, maybe a tad more.

HOLY FRIGGIN' OIL FILTER. That's huge!!! That's like just under the size of filter we use on our huge CAT engines in our transport trucks!!! Or like the high capacity filter that my friend uses for his chev 350. GOSH!

Really? I thought a pint wasnt all that much. 1 pint=  16oz about 1/2 a quart.   Hell my filter (amsoil sdf-15) soaks up a quart=2 pints.

I think he was just rounding up.  Cuzz 22r's take 4.9 quarts of oil, not 5, but i guess it doesn't hurt it.

If you use the ford 1515 filter it will hold about an even 5 quarts and has more paper for filtration..
Forgiveness is between them and god..
Its my job to arrange the meeting!

BigMike,

Are you sure on your V8 engine specs?

I have a 2004 Tundra V8 and it is rated at 245 hp and 315 lb-ft (rpm?) and the new 2005 v-tech trucks are something like 282 hp and 325 lb-ft per the dealer spec.
1989 4Runner: Dual Ultimate (Inchworm front & Marlin 4.70 rear), Marlin Twin Stick, 1200-lb clutch, 4.88 R&P, Aussie Front, Detroit rear, 30-spline Longs, Long hub gears, ARP hub and knuckle studs & 35x12.50 Cooper STT PRO tires.  Marlin rear bumper & sliders.  FROR front bumper.  SAS with Alcan springs & Rancho 9000XL shocks.  Budbuilt Bolt-on traction bar.  Custom Interior Cage by Those Guys Rod and Customs.

Moab Tested & Rubicon Approved

From Toyota.com

4.0 V6 (2005)

282 LB-FT @ 3800 rpm

4.7 V8 (2005)
282 HP @ 5400 rpm
325 LB-FT @ 3400 rpm

And I nearly positive that my 2004 V8 is
240 HP @ 5400 rpm
315 LB-FT @ 3400 rpm
1989 4Runner: Dual Ultimate (Inchworm front & Marlin 4.70 rear), Marlin Twin Stick, 1200-lb clutch, 4.88 R&P, Aussie Front, Detroit rear, 30-spline Longs, Long hub gears, ARP hub and knuckle studs & 35x12.50 Cooper STT PRO tires.  Marlin rear bumper & sliders.  FROR front bumper.  SAS with Alcan springs & Rancho 9000XL shocks.  Budbuilt Bolt-on traction bar.  Custom Interior Cage by Those Guys Rod and Customs.
