Unimog axles under 79-85 Toyota
« on: May 03, 2005, 07:02:09 PM »
:working: :flamer: I know it's been done/talked about it before, but i'd like to research some more info on putting Unimog axles under a 79-85 Toyota.  Has anybody run or known someone with this set-up?  I'd like to hear more first-hand experiences of the pros/cons of these axles under the mini-trucks.  i.e. weight vs. weight of truck and how it performs, articulation and what suspension used, what t-case gears used with portal reduction gears, problems commonly occuring, etc., etc.

The only toyota I have heard of with portal axles is the FJ-45 from TTC.  It looked to me like the thing was way too high and would roll over easy, but the up side is that he has 29 inches of clearance under his diffs.   :turtle:  :usa:
