Interior lights problem
« on: Nov 08, 2018, 03:12:04 PM »
Just recently my interior cluster stopped working. I thought it was the dimmer but it looks like it’s working fine. While troubleshooting I found that my rear lights and fro t marker lights are not working when I turn them on with the interior switch. The only way my lights work is when I press the breaks or turn on the signals. I checked the fuses inside and out and they look good. Does anyone know if there is relays I need to check inside or in the engine bay?

This is on My 85 4runner.

There is the taillight relay. Located on the interior fuse panel, beside the flasher. It should be makes "TAIL"

That was  not the problem, I replaced it and still didn’t work. I think now it might be the actual switch in the steering column. I’m gonna have to look at that next.

I would look up a wiring diagram, but definitely look at the switches. I like to check for continuity across lengths of wire in circuit.

I had a similar problem on my 84 with taillights, ended up being corrosion in the taillight sockets
