Check the specs......
« on: Oct 28, 2018, 07:45:42 PM »

What good is a 1200Mbps wifi router if the ethernet ports are only 10/100 ?

Returning router to Fry's tomorrow...………….

You sure it is not 100/1000 or 10/1000( 1 Gbps)?

10/100 is the port connector.  It's like saying it is a 20/22R head.
Your data is 300 and 867 or 1167Mps.

My Router is 10/1000 as is my Network card. But I am on Fiber Optic Cable with 900Mps Data plan.

Then your wifi data drops to 10/100 as soon as it goes to a hardwire connected device...………………...

Change your network card, not the router.  My 10/1000 network card is over ten years old.  You can probably get 2 gig bandwidth cards now.

Also don't forget 300 baud wired is faster the 4800 baud wireless.

You can't change the network card on the router as it's bullt-in as 10/100,   so any hardwired connection to the router would be limited to 100.

That is the port/connecter type, not your DATA rate.

Router and wireless network adapters are all 802.11 protocal.
But there are different levels or variations of the protocol
802.11 a
802.11 b
802.11 c
802.11 g
802.11 n
802.11 n+
The oldest and slowest is a, the newest and fastest is n+.
You have a fast router.  If you match it to a fast wireless adapter, you can get it's full wireless data rate.
But a router with 802.11 a is just as fast as a router with 802.11 n when you are connecting your computer to it with a network cable.

My laptop connects to the router at 867

My server (hardwire) connects at 100 (router limit)

The 867 wifi connection is useless.

The router should have a 10/100/1000 connection to make the 867 wifi connection useful.

How are you testing measuring your data rate on the server?
Are you connect to the LAN or WAN port?

I returned the router once I found out it wouldn't support the 1000 ethernet connection.

I use the wifi routers as access points, so LAN only to 1000 switch

Then this thread has no point.
