EcoSeal Pinion Seal For Land Cruiser 9.5” axle
« on: Oct 18, 2018, 07:29:07 PM »
I have a leaking pinion seal on my 1996 FZJ80 9.5" elocker rear axle. Tired of leaks, my first stop was Marlin to try and buy an EcoSeal Pinion Seal. In the past I have used the Marlin EcoSeal on the front axle, and been very happy with how they work.

Yesterday I called Marlin, and was told they only had an EcoSeal Pinion Seal for the 8" differential, not the 9.5".

Today when I went to order a factory Toyota seal, part number 90311-38047, I found it is the same seal for both the 8" axle and the 9.5" axle.

Does anyone have an idea why the EcoSeal does not fit the Land Cruiser 9.5" axle, but fits the 4Runner 8" axle?

Yotamasters claims it fits but Marlin Crawler says it doesn't. weird. I'd call them on Monday to try and get a more definitive answer.

I did call. They said it wouldn’t fit my fzj80 axle or my fj60 axle.

Yes, I'd call again. Even their own store page says it's compatible with the FJ40/60/62 differential.

So i bought the seal anyway. The part number on the seal is 90311-38047ES.

Based on that part number alone, Im going to run it and hope for the best.

I went and installed the eco seal today. Low and behold, the old leaky seal was a marlin ecoseal.

I’m going to try one again, and if it starts leaking again I’ll go to an oe Toyota seal.
