HELP!! 22re cuts out intermittently
« on: Aug 18, 2018, 10:13:13 PM »
Okay guys so I I知 kind of unfamiliar with the whole posting thing, but I知 having an issue with my truck. I rebuilt a 22re this summer and just put it in a couple days ago. It runs really good, today I went to put some break in miles on it and got about 10 miles down the road and it just cut out at about 2500-3000 rpm the dash lights come on and the gauges go down. This act is very brief. It idle great. I changed out the efi relay and it went away I drove the truck for over 100 miles with no issues whatsoever. I left after lunch to put more break in miles on it and it cut out once but didn稚 do it the rest of the way. I got some fuel and started it and it initially had the problem again but it passed and then again the same thing after leaving the parts store and it was good the rest of the 25 miles home. Some how there is a correlation to the turn signals blinking fast when it decides to act up.

So tomorrow on my list of things to do is check the fuse block on the drivers side kick panel for corrosion; I was told that thing could  wreak havoc if corroded. I値l pull the flasher relay, and check all grounds and clean the battery posts and terminals. I sure hope I can figure this out soon I gotta head back to Chico on Monday

sounds a lot like a ground.  That said, Ive had contaminated ECUs do the same thing when it was humid/rainy.  Super frustrating for sure.  If you figure it out, be sure to post up so we know what it was.

Way late yo the party but,  my 85 did a similar thing off and on after a fresh rebuild. It ended up being a broken injector wire under the plenum. It would warm up and swell a little and it was drivable. In the cold it was hard to get warmed up. I finally gave up and had my buddy best shop electrical guy figure it out. Now she has been perfect in that regard for over 2 years.
So if it starts up again its another place to look.
