how my hp can a r150 handle

im curious how much hp can a r150 trans handle im currently running running a 93 4.3cpi to that trans but thinking of going to a 4.8ls and debating on if the Toyota trans can handle the power and torgue or do I need to beef up this trans first

I have always heard 300-350ish

Based on the stock spec range of the 4.8, 270-290hp net and 285-305 lb-ft, it should survive, the R150 is teh same that is behind the  It is the same behind the 3.4 and w/the supercharger it was supposed to be around 240hp.  A lot will depend on how you plan to apply the power, i.e, dead stop drop the clutch, or just better performance on the highway were you ease into the power.

If the internals are the same as the R154(Supra trans), it should handle upwards of 400hp as a daily, check with Marlin.
