93 4Runner Dome Light Options?
« on: Sep 13, 2017, 07:00:54 PM »
I've done a bunch of poking around on the interwebs and I can't seem to find an answer to any of my questions so here I am....

My research shows that I'm not the only one that has an issue with the dome light switch so why is there no easy solution out there?

1) Is there a simple fix to get the oxidized contacts and ball working again?  Yes, I've cleaned them and that does work for a while (1-6 months)

2) Is there an aftermarket replacement that doesn't brake the bank? Local Toyota dealer wants $55 bucks for the next gen one that I might be able to make work???

Also, if a mod wants to move this to a better suited place feel free... make Cheesemaker do something productive for once around here.

The dome light switch pic for reference:

Maybe wire/mount an on-off-on toggle switch?

Naval jelly. I've used I numerous times on small projects like this. Then on its all clean I coat it all down with dielectric grease.

I ordered a can of Deoxit to try.  It's also a de-oxidizer like navel jelly and should clean the contacts up.  And I always use a healthy coating of dielectric grease after I clean the contacts.
