Got the grille. I think I'm going to order a new after market. This one is kind of banged up. Also spent about an hour or so removing the purple window tint and scraping the glass inside and out. They dont make glass like this these days.

This morning I cleaned up the rear bumper with sos pad. Removed the old dually fenders. Adjusted windshield wiper arms. When the go back to "park" I had them too low and they r u n n o f t the windshield.

I try to do at least 1 productive thing per day. With my son playing baseball it's tough but I manage to do at least something. Today I had intentions of fitting the first section of exhaust to see what needs to be done to clear the transmission crossmember. That didn't happen. When pulling it to the driveway I decided to shift my attention to whether or not the booster was bad or the vacuum pump. When I put the vacuum hose on between the two I blew it out with compressed air to be sure it wasn't blocked. It flopped all around so I figured it was clear. Today I pulled it off and put my hand over the vacuum pump and it was definitely working. I don't have a vacuum gauge handy but I compared it to the 89 and the 98 and it felt the same. I had a strong feeling the booster from the parts truck was not the culprit. I aimed at the hose. I attempted to blow through it with my mouth and felt a lot of resistance. It has no check valve or filter so I knew i found the problem. I ran a rig rod through it and got some dirt. Put the water hose to it and got the remains of a dirt dauber home. I ran hot water through it and blew it out good. Put it on and the brakes are good and soft. The air now does its thing properly on the dash, floor, and windshield.

Today was put the flexible 4" pipe on and hope I could make it clear the floor and cross member. That was a success so I will go get the 7' stick and over axle and out piece from a friend that has a diesel performance shop. Also while under there I pulled the speedometer gear out and swapped it for the one from the 727. Took a test drive. Speedo it about 5-6mph faster than actual speed at 50. I will address this when I build the other rear axle. No sense in doing it twice.

Took the fenders to my buddy's fiberglass shop. He said the type of glass they are made from requires a certain type to repair it and it's high as a giraffe's ass. They aren't worth fooling with. I'm going to clean them up, paint them black, and run them until the next stage of this project kicks off.

That is basically what they are. Price those. They are about $500 a pair. The only place that reproduces these also makes those.

I played with the injection pump throttle arm a little today. Cleaned the dually fenders, got all the junk out of bed and swept the pinestraw into the burn pile. Went and got some 220 from the shop at moms house so I can give the fenders a sand before bombing them black. I gave it a drive and the throttle is better but I still think something isnt right in the pump when my cousin installed the GSK. Maybe I'm expecting too much from this little thing. I have gotten spoiled with my ppump making about 450-475hp and have forgotten what turds these engines are at minimum fuel upgrades and 225hp... :driving: :smack:

Today I cleaned all the simulators with an sos pad and decided to replace the left wheel cylinder that was leaking. Parts house said they had it. Tore it down and went to get it and they didnt have it. So it sits disassembled until tomorrow night.

Got the new wheel cylinder on last night and took a little cruise my cousins to work on his boat. These brakes make me want to remove hydroboost from my 98 they work so well.

Ordered 4 more of the firestone transforce ht for the rear keeping it to 235/85r16 just like the front that way I can rotate them and keep them all the same. Also ordered some skar audio 6x9s for the doors all should arrive Thursday. Got the rear fenders painted with some spray can junk. I will replace with new fenders when I actually paint the whole truck.

Today I acquired a new mirror for the windshield. The skar 6x9s arrived 2 days ahead of predicted schedule so I put those in. As with any skar audio products i have had experience with they work wonderfully and sound great. Especially considering they are only powered by the 1988 model head unit that is pounding out "maybe" 15 watts per corner.

I wanted to keep it looking old school and decided to keep the kenwood covers on the rears. Front are hidden behind the lower door panel.

Acquisition from yesterday was new dimmer switch and headlights. Tires came in. I'm going to put these rears on the flatbed. Last night I pulled the ones off the flatbed to have new tires mounted on them today and I will play musical chairs with them when I get home.

An old friend that used to wheel an 80s 1 ton dodge with us was reaching out yesterday for some help on his 99 24v and we got on the subject of parts. Turned out he had a 92 parts truck with a busted up grille. Gave me the whole truck. It has a 3.54 rear axle so I will go through it with new brake shoes/wheel cylinders and run it until I either find a 3.21 14 bolt or build one. Not sure when I can get the rest of the truck but here is the grille put on mine.

Trying to keep on one thing a day but about all that's left is paint and rear axle. Neither of which I have.

That boat trailer got the new hubs and bearings off the car hauler over a year ago so the car hauler sat in the woods on blocks. Finally dug it out and put new bearings, seals, and bearing buddys in the hubs off the boat trailer. Put them on the car hauler so I could go get this.

With a trip to ft Walton coming up friday after next for an annual boat trip. I decided it's time to bust butt on this thing and get it road worthy for a long trip. Step 1 was get new 3" brake shoes and 37337 gm 1 ton wheel cylinders. This d70 dually axle from the above pictured 93 parts truck had 1 1/8"  bore wheel cylinders. They weren't available at any local parts house until next week. That was the main reason in going with the GM. Second reason was they are slightly larger at 1 3/16". I have them on the d80 in my 98 and they will lock the rear up nicely if desired.

Drivers side was a fiasco of prying and hitting the drum with a 4lb hammer for 45 minutes. The passenger was stuck and would not even roll. That required lots of leverage. Hence the axle shaft on backward and the 5' prybar. I ended up with a small prybar and hammer chipping away at the old brake shoes and bending them until it finally came off 2 hours later. Ran out of daylight. Hope to continue tomorrow.

While zippo is de braking his 14blt in lieu of disk. I spent some time today cleaning up the old drums and giving them a coat of protection. The new bearings and seals will be in tomorrow and go in place. Then home to install the shoes and wheel cylinders.

Not to be held up by lack of bearings I started with a piece of 1/4" diamond plate and cut a hole in it. Bent a 90 on it and drilled 4 holes to mount the $9.99 7 way plug. I found some 7 wire at work that the electricians had thrown in the scrap bin and utilized it. The only colors that werent there were brown and yellow. I just substituted them and made a drawing of it to put in the glove box in case I forget what I did later down the road. Tied the turn signals into the factory harness. Then ran the running lights through a constant duty solenoid since I read about issues with burning up the headlight switch when connected to trailers. As far as I can tell it seems to be working properly.

Rear brakes on with all new every stuff. All new timken bearings, races & seals. Clicked them on up pretty tight. Unfortunately I have to get the driveshaft modified yet again. Maybe tomorrow I can get the axles swapped and driveshaft out. As it is now it has a small ujoint and the newer axle uses a 1410. No conversion joint for the application so here we go to gulf coast driveline.

Welcome to Mobile, Alabama, the rainiest city in the US.

Spent all evening on the axle swap and other various things that needed to be done. Got mechanical oil psi and temp gauges along with a volt meter. Nothing fancy just a little set from the parts house I had laying around. Installed the new shiny radiator and filled with coolant after flushing the system with water through the lower hose for about 45 mins. I also managed to break the HVAC control head a some point so swapped the one from the parts truck in and got all that working. Maybe tomorrow I can come up with a plan for ac lines, bleed the brakes, come up with a way to make the parking brake cables work since I came from reg cab long bed to a crew cab long bed.

Dropped driveshaft off Saturday. Ac lines are going to the local napa industrial parts house tomorrow with high hopes they can help me out. Bled rear brakes today. Made plan for extending the parking brake cable. Cleaned up the diff and file switch royal purple 80w-90. Put rear fenders on. The tropical storm is finally getting close enough to get us wet so I had to dog off.

Had a mixture of the old lines and new made up yesterday. Home to install and the low side line hit the engine mount and broke the back half of the compressor. Swapped compressor rear housing with the old one and made note of how the line should be changed. Done that this morning and dropped off at shop. Got it at lunch.

Called driveshaft shop and the flange was out for delivery. Went over after work and helped him get the yoke in and squared up. Welded it on and I got to learn how to run the balancer. Pretty cool little rig.

Home I get. Installed ac line, connect vacuum pump. On to driveshaft I go. Found one broken bolt in yoke on axle and the 3 other holes pretty ugly. Lots of zep 45 and an hour later 3 were clean and the broke bolt had been drilled, extracted, and threads chased as well. In went driveshaft.

Shut off vac pump and left that alone for an hour while I piddled with wiring harness for ac. I have no schematic so I'm going on what I feel this system should do as far as supplying power when and how. Checked gauges and still holding over 30 on vac. Put 1 can of dye and 2 more cans of r134. Said fork that system and put a hot and ground to the compressor to make sure it all worked and I could get schematic/trouble shoot tomorrow. Ac blew cold but i was not liking how high the high side got. After a good fan and spraying with the water hose it wasn't extremely high. Still higher than I like but it was getting late. I will look at it more tomorrow.

Finished ac today. Installed new metal fan blades on the old fan hub. Put on fan shroud, new air filter, gave it a bath, torched off the paw paw running boards. Put a toolbox I had laying around on it. Hooked the boat up.
Also picked up a 5k btu window unit to set on the boat for the 2 nights I'm staying on it this weekend. Fits the rear window of the truck so well I might sleep in the truck lol.
