Problem:
2001 Honda Accord , 305,000. miles. Distributor inner Oil seal and o-ring leaking bad. To replace the seal you have to remove the shaft from the distributor, which requires removing the cam gear from the end of it by pressing a pin out .
On Saturday morning I realized after trying to press the pin out for about an hour that I needed help.
So, knowing that I'm going to see Marlin in a couple of hours at the Cal 4our wheel convention in Visalia ca I thought I would take the distributor to him and see what he thought.
In so many words He told me " Let me take it to the shop tomorrow I think I have something that will work".
Marlin texted me at 8:10 am the next morning and told me my distributor is ready.
Here is what he came up with.
He took a jam nut and drilled it out to fit over the cam gear, then he drilled the sides for access to the pin. Now you can maintain control of it while putting pressure on the pin.
