Inchworm R150 to Gear Driven T-Case Adapter Problem
« on: Dec 20, 2016, 08:40:07 PM »
Well, for my latest project I pulled the entire drive line out of my truck.  I pulled the transmission and t-cases apart to install some R150 upgrades from marlin.  I didn't even glance at the output until I pulled the output bearing and... damum  :shocking:.  That Inchworm coupler completely DESTROYED my output shaft, and itself.

I would say about half of the tooth is missing...

This adapter has been in my truck since late 2008, and has about 20k miles on it, but it still shouldn't have eaten everything up like that.

Anyway, Inchworm/Lowrange Offroad received all of this info just a few minutes before I posted this, I'll let everyone know what they say.

My stock input on my rear case looked like that with my Marlin adaptor. The coupler looked fine though

Maybe the parts were at the limit from manufacturing? Coupler bored out, shaft milled down, making for a loose connection.

Low Range Offroad was pretty responsive considering we're smack dab in the middle of the holidays.  Apparently this is very, very rare, and from what I could tell only happened on the older adapters (mine).  Anyway, they sold me a new coupler at cost ($60 + $16 shipping).  I was really hoping they would pony up and give me a new coupler considering it trashed my transmission output as well, but hey it is a 7 year old adapter and long out of its warranty.
