how about this kit
« on: Aug 02, 2016, 08:23:17 PM »
http://www.ebay.com/itm/85-95-Toyota-4Runner-Pickup-Celica-2-4L-SOHC-Engine-Rebuild-Kit-22R-22RE-22REC-/281233262404?hash=item417acf0744:g:3J8AAOSwbsBXjsV5&vxp=mtr

Good or bad? I was not going to do a full kit but after looking at the price of doing the re-ring kit with replacing wear items such as water pump and oil pump this kit would be cheaper. I figure no point in not doing new pistons and all if this is a decent kit to use. I have the block done and ready to build my head will be done in 2 days all new valves springs and retainers.

this is where I am at

My two cents says it's a chinese kit. It has plastic cam guides (not good) and zinc plated freeze plugs Not brass.  If economy is your only concern, it'll work, if longevity is your main concern, choose more wisely.   :twocents:

OHHH NO.... is my black paint going to take 5 HP!!

Would Ford Blue paint have added some HP to my engine???? :gap:

Will my red rocker cover give me 1/2 HP?  :D

Cummins tan for added low end torque!

I'm going to try Detroit green on my next one and see how it does.  Actually I find lighter colors on the block nice because you can see what you are doing better with the light background.

If I had it to do over, I would have painted the block a lighter color.  I think the gray would go great with the red rocker cover.  The black on the block will no show up any oil leaks as easily.  :beerchug:
