« on: Jun 07, 2016, 11:55:01 PM »
So blown head gasket on 3.0 3vz. you know the drill lol  :smack:. so got the heads cleaned up and checked for warpage and cracks and looks good as far as I can tell. I took some pictures what are your thoughts? should I get them resurfaced? whats the cost on resurfacing? Im doing this for a buddy and then he is selling it, needs the cash. Thanks!

Do you own a strait edge and set of feeler gauges.
You can check this yourself just like the machine shop does, its easy.
Can you feel any edge that you can catch your finger nail on?
Did you check the block. Very common to be pitted in front and rear where the gasket blew. Look right at where the head gasket sealing ring was.
I have fixed this with jb weld before. I know it sounds bad, but My son has been driving on his for two years now with no problems.

Ya I checked with a flat edge and feeler gauges. Its all pretty smooth but ill have to check with my nail but i don't think it will catch. I haven't made it to the block just yet but should in the next couple days.

With as much work and money you have into an HG job on a 3.0, not resurfacing them is a a financial risk not worth taking.

With the heads apart, a shop shouldn't charge more than around $150 to pressure test/resurface the heads.
