Not trying to be a donkeys rear end here, but it seems you could fix the vibration issues and keep it a good driver to the trail.

Some tamer wheels and fix the rear driveshaft.  Nothing wrong with trailering if you're planning to get wild, but I've always felt some sort of weird responsibility to keep these things road worthy.

Every time I've been out with the trailer queen set they always seem to have dependability issues that wouldn't be there if they had to drive their rides on the road.

Also, it sure is comfortable in the big truck on the way home from a longer trip.  :beerchug:

I'm glad you guys revealed the mystery of why people tow.

My 85 Extended Cab started as my only vehicle.  When I purchased a second car it was a 2000 SS Camaro  Had I been interested in towing my crawler I would have not been able to own both a tow rig and the sport car, easy choice.  In theory, I could tow behind my 2004 Sequoia but here's a list of reasons that I don't:

(1) I don't have room to store a trailer and borrowing one is more work than it's worth.
(2) My 4Runner gets better fuel mileage than the Sequoia would towing.
(3) I likely drive my 4Runner faster to Moab that I would go towing in my Sequoia
(4) My 4Runner is perfectly capable of being a decent ride and it's been very reliable.
(5) I wouldn't change the way I drive even if I had the backup of a trailer to get home.

I pretty much just misunderstood it all together.  I shouldn't post while having my brain expanded at an uncontrollable rate at work.

I like to pull a trailer behind my 1st gen pickup in case I find extra 1st gen pickups laying around.  Does that count?
